Good For Roguelike Fans
This game is fun, but little grindy. There is a lot to unlock and the game feels like it would be borderline impossible if you don't play many unwinnable games to farm crystals in order unlock some passive upgrades and more advanced classes. Thankfully, each game is randomly generated with a lot of randomization (the loot you get, the unique skills you get, the category of creatures you encounter and even the bosses, these are all randomly shuffled) so it doesn't feel like you're replaying the exact same experience each game, though, after 10 to 20 hours of playing dozens of games, a lot of the novelty was wearing off and I was looking forward to beating the game which I did. The classes are not equal so you should try many to sort out the winners from the duds, though there are still quite a few viable classes. Also, equipment makes a very big difference in this game and your success will be very dependent on the loot you get. Some lost games with a bad loot feel like they were impossible from the start, even if you did everything right. When you start the game, the characters get a random perk and a flaw (you cannot change it without starting the game or changing the class) which can be mildly annoying if you got a class combo you want to tryout for a few games and the flaws are bad for your class picks, though you can work around the problem by swapping which party member plays which class or by quickly abandoning a game. It is still mildly annoying. Those foibles non-withstanding, the game is still a good draw if you enjoy roguelike tactical rpgs and don't mind a challenging experience. The graphics are not jaw-dropping, but they complement the game experience well and so does the music. There are many many classes to tryout which keeps the game fresh for a while, a very good variety of enemies to figure out (plus you get to unlock their stats and descriptions after beating them a certain number of times) and lots of interesting loot. I liked it.
