Great ancient battles game!
I've always loved the history of how equipements and armies evolved over time and strategies changed. This is the perfect game for it, you get the pleasure of seeing all the armies and styles over a long period of history and the gameplay manages represent the tactics of each era very well. The way the game balances historicity and fun gameplay is impressive and I can't get enough of it!

Great but with lots of negatives
Nice basic hex based battle game. I really enjoy playing these types of games and this one as well but can't give it a great review because it has some very annoying downsides. The gameplay is generally fun and requires you to plan ahead because your troops aren"t super mobile (which is good). Unfortunately luck is way too important in the game. Particuarly in disruption/fragment/break checks Graphics are nice and basic. Music is lacking. Tutorial is useless but manual is good. Campaigns are enjoyable but a bit bare: just a couple of random battles strung together with some text, reinforcement choices and your units gaining levels. Although it has a lot of army lists the difference between armies and units isn't that big with the base game. Get the feeling that this is so to shift DLC. Overall it is a fun game but not best bang for your buck

The best tactical TBS of Ancients
This is by far the best turn based tactical game set in the Ancient times. A wide range of armies and various levels of military technologies are modeled. The game provied historical battles, campaigns, generated conflicts, random battles, has a simple, yet efficient play by email multiplayer option and the best of all, a proper, simple Hot Seat. I can re-play the greatest or sometimes most obscure moments of Ancient history with my son.

Great SP and MP
If medium graphics from last generation are not an issue for you, this game is a great way of spending 30mins a day. Specially the MP having championships every couple months, played by turns asynchronically, its like a modern version of chess by mail.
