Centuries ago, a brutal beast of destruction rent the world asunder. In this time of need, the first Immortals came into their uncanny powers, powers so great that they succeeded in destroying the beast ravaging the land, where all else had failed.

To prevent such destruction from ever happening again, the Immortals banded together to form a Council that would enforce order and stability on a global scale, stepping in at any hint of war or chaos.

The Immortals might be vastly powerful, but they are few. Even they can't oversee all of the lands. This is why they rely upon their mortal agents, the Arbiters, to guard the land's people from the more day-to-day dangers they face. Arbiters range over the land, rooting out bandits, unruly monsters, and crooked officials; their word is law.

But one Arbiter uncovers the deepening corruption pervading her own order, and it falls to her to halt the spread of a threat as dire as the brutal beast of yore.

Strongly influenced by games such as Final Fantasy Tactics (original and Advance versions) and Tactics Ogre, this tactical RPG stands on its own as a worthy successor of those classics, bringing a slew of improvements and additions to the tactics genre.

great game

Classic bones with indie soul. It's got enough of the Tactics games in it's DNA to feel familiar but with fresh formulas classes, and feels. My only gripe is lack of feeling much investment in the character's decisions. A definite must play if you like Tactical RPGs

A great game!

I am very happy that this game was made! It is like playing a modern version of final fantasy tactics or ogre battle tactics. My only complaint is that it feels as though it was made for a touch screen device and not a computer.

Closest to FFT/Tactics Ogre yet

Fell Seal is an indie budget attempt at re-creating the magic that is FFT and Tactics Ogre and for the most part it does just that, but not without some caveats and strange design decisions. I've seen many SRPGs come and go and still being developed claiming to be the next FFT but those games have obvious downsides and not enough of a budget to really make them comparable to the originals. This game, however, is the closest you'll get. Right down to the job system, maps, story and characters, unit customisation and how the game handles quests and missions. The art style isn't for everyone, the k+m controls leave more to be desired, the class unlock system is confusing and the story could be a lot better, but just about everything else more than makes up for the few shortcomings. Combat feels great, unit customisation (both visually and mechanically) is great, sending out squads on missions feels immersive, unlocking the map slowly and returning to locations to grind and find secrets is rewarding and there is lots of content and variety to make replay value high. You ought to check this one out if you need to scratch that FFT/Tactics Ogre itch because there just isn't any other game alike out there for PC that can be compared to those except for this. But most of all, Fell Seal is fun and relaxing to play and the difficulty options allow you to fine tune the game to your liking and tolerance!

A wonderful indie tactical ROG

I wasn't sure about Fell Seal at first. I love games in this genre, but I wasn't enthusiastic about the art and the reviews I'd read didn't give me a good sense of the combat. Fortunately, there's a demo available (on itch.io). And thank goodness for that! After a couple of hours with the demo, I realized that I was hooked and bought the game. I'm still not enthusiastic about all of the art, but I love just about everything else in Fell Seal. The classes are varied and interesting. The combat is straightforward and engaging. The game is difficult (in Veteran mode) but not punishing. In any given fight, there's a pretty good chance that at least one of your characters will go down, but this isn't a perma-death game. That character is injured, not dead, and will be available to use again once he's had time to recover. To me, the most novel and interesting thing about Fell Seal is the way the game awards experience to your party. The game makes a distinction between experience points, which affect your characters' levels (and thus their stats), and ability points, which are used to unlock abilities. Characters who don't participate in combat can still gain class-specific ability points based on the classes and actions of the characters who did participate in combat. I also appreciate the story. It's a little on the sparse side, but I consider that a virtue. What's there is interesting and it doesn't over-stay its welcome. It also respects the player's time. This is a game that knows that most people are going to play it more than once. Dialog is presented one sentence at a time rather than one word or one letter at a time the way it is in some JRPGs, making it much faster to get through. All the cutscenes are skippable. All in all, I'd say that as long as you can deal with the character sprites, Fell Seal is a must-have tactical RPG.

good, kinda feels like xcom somehow

looks and feel better then i thought from the store page photos. it could be better- there is alot of healing for enemies too and no antiheal so far which kinda make battles drag a bit but overall pacing is good.
