John Woo Killing At Its Finest

The combat in this game is so, so much fun. Couple with amazing mood, it really comes together into something special. It's a real shame that they chose to retread the same ground in the sequels. I would have loved the anthology approach. I hope they bring back F.E.A.R. some day.

Good action and fun!

The playability is top-notch, really. It is straight, but it works. The AI is a bit wobbly here and there, but every enemy doesn't run straight to your gunfire. The game looks and sounds (meaty gun sounds!) great, even today. Action and horror (little ghost girl, very Japanese?!), nicely alloyed.

a pleasant surprise

never played this back in the day, sorry I missed it... adequately creepy without letting the atmospherics get too much in the way of the game action. Only draw back really is the cut scenes you can't skip through... especially at the start... like 5 minutes of cinematics...otherwise a fun time.
