A better Half Life.

FEAR really is everything Half Life 2 should have been like. FEAR is one of the most well aged first person shooters to date. This is in most part thanks to it's great gampley and it's terrific lighting system which still managers to make everything look good to this day. It's not a very scary game though. It's a little too much fun to be scary. Which is an odd criticism to say the least. Nonetheless the supernatural parts are great fun. The best thing about this game is the combat itself. Guns have terrific feedback and this game has some of the best AI I've ever seen. It also shows the best use of bullet I've never seen. By no means was FEAR the first to do it but I would go so far to say it does it better then any game before or since. Who would ever thought that something as mundane as shooting glass or puddles of water could look so beautiful.

Get this one instead of the one on Steam

On GOG, you can get the first one by itself, rather than having to buy the whole franchise bundle with the inferior sequels on steam. Other than that, this game has some of the best AI in a game, they are actually smart and not stupid like most games have. Highly recommended! I'm giving it 4 stars, because you still do need to do some tinkering to get the best experience. But that's not a big deal and will take less than 10 minutes to fix. :)

i just got this game from some other web for less cost for all fear 1, 2, and 3. but still a great game and good cost. it still worth getting if you never play it...

Tactical FPS done right

Call of Duty sucks, and it's a shame we didn't take after FEAR sooner.
