Fallout 2

I just have bough the game but I can't play it. When I start it, the lancher pop-up than Iclick play but it closes. I have unistall it but it doesn't change, what did I miss? A little help, please because the game seems very nice and I don't know enough about PC to understant what's happening. Thanks :)

First things first, Fallout 2 is a massive improvement over Fallout 1's gameplay, UIs are more intuitive and less clunky, combat is slightly more streamlined, and moving across the map has been improved a whole lot. You will also never need to worry about a time-limit so you are free to explore the game as you please, you won't even need to follow the "expected" storyline (barring some essential items and quests which you cannot skip) depending on your playstyle, experience with the game, and luck stat (trust me, you'll want high luck for unique encounters and crits alongside good agility if you plan to play any form of guns or energy weapons build, AP struggle is still around); however, some of Fallout 1's flaws still persist, some skills are nearly useless (aside from a handful of quests), you need to really think about your stats since raising stats is a bit tedious, and some specializations such as energy weapons really only prove effective towards the end-game. Story-wise, this is where I find Fallout 2 falls ever so slightly short of Fallout 1. Fallout 2 is a little more campy and witty overall, it doesn't necessarily take its world too seriously, the main threat (a faction you'll need to encounter in the main story) doesn't really appear too much till the late mid-game to end-game, and the wasteland piece of the world feels significantly less emphasized (sure there's technically more radioactive areas in the game but the post-apocalyptic feelings aren't nearly as present as in Fallout 1) which makes it feel like a spaghetti western rather than a game set in a ruined world. I suppose the best way to describe it would be like comparing the first Mad Max to Tank Girl, sure both are set in a post-apocalyptic world but one takes its setting as a way to tell a 'serious' and sobering story whereas the other acts as a satire of pop culture mixed with its own flavor of comedy. Should you play Fallout 2? Totally, just don't expect a Fallout 1 + 1

One of the best games ever! I love it so much, so I bought it CD, Steam and GOG versions! I complete it so many times, so i forget how much! This is the great game ever!!!

My third favorite game in the series. I'd give it a 4.5 on here if I could. The game takes what works in Fallout 1 and makes it a bit easier to play and gives you a lot more content to explore. The game isn't much different from how Fallout 1 plays besides a companion interface, a way to make companions move out of your way, and a bit better inventory. I'd suggest this game to anyone who played Fallout 1 and wants some more good old cRPG Fallout. If you really like cRPGs, I'd say you should heavily consider playing this game as it is a solid follow up to a legendary RPG.

Yes. The one and only Fallout 2. The game sucked me in like no other game did. Graphics are dated but still work. Controls are ok, you can do everything with your mouse. Great atmosphere, music, sounds, story, combat system, main quest, sidequests, many easter eggs, pop culture reference, spiced up with a lot of jokes. Before you begin your quest as the Chosen One, installing the fan made Fallout 2 restoration project is highly recommended. Just a few glimpses from the vast world of Fallout 2: You can have very interesting NPCs to join you. At a point of the game one of them meets his daughter and has a dramatic conversation with her. Another one always complaining about his heart condition. Bess the brahmin, a Cyberdog, or a real dog, a mutant, a ghoul, you name it, they're all interesting, most of them are actually useful when you fight your way through the harsh and unforgiving wasteland. In the game you can get married and you can divorce your spouse if you wish. Based on your actions, you will get your karma. You can be nice, or you can be a real jerk. You can use booze and drugs. You can visit prostitutes. You can be a boxing champion, an adult movie star, or a slaver, or... in a certain town there are some notty kids who will try to steal your valuables. And you've got loaded guns. Don't even think about it, those poor children need help, right? You can help them of course. I did. But you can choose to be evil and... That's really sick isn't it? Many NPCs will hate you for that! Some of them will say when they see you: "I hope they'll get you" Of course I never tried this you know, just talked with someone who knows someone who actually did. You know what I'm sayin'? Fallout 2 is 100% coolness, I think it will be my favorite cRPG of my life. If I live long enough, I will probably replay this game a few more times. It's always a different experience. If you don't like to read as much as I do, this game might be not for you, I like to read, that's why I love this game. On the other hand, even if you don't like to read that much, just give this game a shot. Come on, $10 is not much, now with a discount it's only $2,49. Again, don't forget to install the free Fallout 2 Restoration Project, it fixes a lot of bugs, and makes this great game even greater!
