Beware!! is not complete
The game only comes with Napoleon's ambition and Nomine, but not Heir to the throne, if you want to have a complete experience, and have the visual upgrade that in my opinion is needed you need to purchase an additional $25 expansion (or wait for a sale)

Before you think about purchasing....
The game is Critically incomplete without the additional Purchase... Notice that the two expansions listed together cost a good deal more then the game itself. I call foul on Paradox and foul on GOG.com for enabling this crime. While a game I mightily enjoyed, The price hardly justifies the features and comparative Value compared to other Paradox titles of the same age. If you do find both on sale I will recommend the purchase, otherwise don't feed the wolf.

Excellent strategy game
I am currently playing this game. I bought it some years ago on PC CD-ROM edition. It's an excellent strategy game with quite good AI and the fact that it gives emphasis on historical events is what makes this game unique compared with other strategy games. I understand now and from the other users comments that it is not actually the complete version and that some other expansions came out later. Anyway, i really enjoy playing this game and i recommend it to anyone who is fan of the genre.

Still loving this game
I bought "EU3 Complete" over a decade ago, at which time it was "complete". Then they added two more expansions, so "Chronicles" is the REAL "complete" edition. Really, this should have been renamed, or just replaced by Chronicles. It took me a long time to get the two final expansions from a non-Steam source, but now I've got them. Despite the newer and shinier graphics in EU4, I'm still playing and enjoying EU3. The final pair of expansions do add some worthwhile game mechanics, sharply reduce the annoying pirate spawns in heavily settled areas of the map, and make various other changes (most of them positive), but they're not essential. This version is more than just "playable", it's almost infinitely replayable, by choosing different countries and cultures, with enough randomization so no two campaigns even with the same country will ever be alike. If you don't mind the micromanagement (don't expect to finish a campaign in a few evenings, I've had campaigns run for months), this game is worth its full list price, and an absolute bargain if you get it on sale.

Before greed took its toll.
A fine grand history game perhaps a little too holy roman empire focused for its own good. During the days of the base game's release, Paradox had only just gotten into their DLC stride with some horrible 3D models on offer for various depicted timescales for a reasonable sum. Now I'm sad to note their greed is in full tuneless swing with EU4 and the latest disaster EU:Rome 2 projecting dozens of expensive DLC to make them full games, and as the DLC keeps coming when is complete complete? Don't reward greedy and avaricious game developers. 2 stars because the game is ok. 0 for Paradox's DLC policy.
