This game right out of the gate is absolute garbage. From the fairly fates graphics to the terrible voice acting and idiotic dialogue. Then beyond that combat is like trying to drive a real tank in real life with only one person operating. NIGHTMARE. Beyond that the combat is so difficult that 25-30 hits on a regular animal sometimes doesn't kill it but it hits you 2-3 times and its over, this is on EASY difficulty. There's no clear mission to take that will be achievable in the beginning because you can't fight anyone or anything on the way which is clearly the only way to level your character to be able to fight these insanely monstrously stupid impossible to kill animals. This game is a COMPLETE waste of money DO NOT BUY IT!!!!!!
GARBAGE
This game has great visuals and will run well on even the lower end of the requirements. I have an AMD Phenom II X4 3.4ghz with 16 gigs of ram and an NVidia 750ti and I do not get much lag at all and 95% of the settings are on High. The only change I mad was to make sure vsinc was on. Physics and collision is rather well done. I did not expect this with my lower end gear, well at least lower end for this game. You wind up spending time just looking at everything, the shadows, the people, the plants, they are all a sight to see.
I am only 5 hours in and even though the game is very challenging you find yourself having a great time with the game. The only reason I didn't give it more stars have a lot to do with combat controls. I am using an XBox controller and combat commands are at times slow and clunky, you can't just button mash your way through combat. You have to wait till your action is almost done to do the next action. If you don't you will find that it will keep going through a buffer of all the keys that you pushed. So make sure that you take your time and don't just go pushing buttons.
A the begining of the game, after you get to the berserker town, stealth and slowness are your friends. You can kill high level critters but you have to be smart about it. You have to make sure you have room to maneuver and to retreat if you have to. You jet back will become your best friend. With open world, and it really is wide open, you will find your jet pack will come in handy, even to get back to where you started, if you want.
Pros:
Open World
Jet Pack
Lots to explore
Stunning views
Logical NPC interaction (if a npc says they are going someplace to do something, follow them and you will see them do it. You don't see that a lot in games.
Addictive, even when you die
Cons:
Brutal
Unforgiving (can get very tight at times in combat)
Combat not always responsive
Save often as you die a lot
It is a fun and sometimes confusing game but fun!
This looks like a modern day reboot of an old classic, but a good one at that. However, they still keep it simple -) unlimited inventory, nights bright as polar ones, and sleepeat is for the weak, not to mention traders are there just to lighten off your load with no regards for morals and bottomless money/ammo pouches ))) Good fun, but a tad below serious immersion. Give it a go.
Everything is slow and deep to get in this game. Dialogues, story, combats, character evolution, equipment. But very rewarding in the end because most of things are very well done and interesting.
Unfortunately, few bugs in combat and crashes when is it rainy.
Think the title says it all. The descriptions of people calling it a "spiritual successor to Gothic" is possibly one of the worst endorsements for a game I've ever seen, to the point where I don't even want to try playing Gothic if it's anything close to this travesty. The fact this game was actually made by a development team and not some dedicated single developer is astounding, because for how wide it is, it's incredibly shallow.
The worst part is undoubtedly the combat. Not only is it stiff and janky, it's needlessly difficult in many areas, especially the beginning. The first hour of combat is almost identical to the 50th. The game also includes multiple escort missions, which TRULY shows the weakness of the combat, as you have to genuinely run IN ADVANCE of the character in order to trigger the enemies and attack them before the escort gets there, because the combat is SO POOR.
It doesn't reward you for exploration, it almost makes it a necessity. It's almost incredible how the game forces you to trudge along for ages, only to happen upon a heavily overleveled enemy and have you die in two shots, only to reset you back half an hour for your effort.
If the story was anything good, at least you'd have a reason to continue. Just look at the love Alpha Protocol has. But instead, we get some of the most boring and trite storytelling imaginable. Nothing truly original is present, it's all easy to understand the moment you hear it. There's no genuine mystery, no sense of amazement. It's got the writing of a mediocre MMO.
Genuinely, I'd rather be playing Guild Wars 2 than this game, because that game not only engages you, but it unironically offers a more engaging combat experience. At this point, I should've just written a 5-star review for Guild Wars 2 and pasted it here, you'd get more out of it.
