Best RPG I playedd in this life, I played witcher 3 but it lacks the RPG elements ths game has, it looks good and with patches they can improve some visual bugs that are 100% fixable, more bugs can be fixed on future patches, nothing is game breaking on 1.0 version, the game feels like a true RPG that's all I need !
This game is well made and thought through. Good atmosphere, cool setting and nice graphics makes it a wonder to play. These are my pros and cons.
Pros: Graphics - it's nice to look at. Beautiful landscapes and quite good options (look at ini file)
Story - immersive enough. You have a lot to do and side quests seem plenty, even though a lot of "go kill" and "go fetch".
Character - I really like the "Gothic" way to build you character. Find people to teach you stuff.
Factions - Also this makes me happy. They have done a good job on making factions diverse.
There are more things to say, but I have only been playing for 6 h.
Cons: Graphics - There are games thet look better.
Story - The dialouge make slight sense some times. Some quests get locked and you can only complete them in one way (even if you should be able to change your mind and NOT kill the guy).
Character - Some minor misses. How muck hit points do I have? Resistances? It works, but could get better.
Factions - Nope, still awesome!
On combat - I like it. They have made it a mix between Gothic's rough and Risen's "let's dodge this" in a good way. I am beginning to master it, but I still get my a** handed to me every 10 minutes. I'm level 7 and run with Duras (A man who does get mauled by the Outlaws... hmm...?)
Buy it!
Before anyone would start this game needs to be adviced that this is not a mainstream RPG. This is an old-school game in every aspect. Even though graphics is visually beautiful, technically it's obsolete so dont even try to compare with new titles. The other "Piranha" tradition is the fight system which is (to be honest) clumsy at least.
But if you can live with those "problems" be prepared for 60+ hours of pure game. Be prepared that here no one will hold your hand, no one will tell you directly what is wrong and what is good. There are only factions and people with their own interrest, wishes and rules in a very well designed world with quite deep and deliberate history. Almost every action you perform affects something in the wolrd. It is not necesseraly a huge change so dont expect total game changes but if you like the wolrd and its inhabintants then there will be a lot of interresting and sometimes tough decisions. This makes this game alive and
credible which is a rare nowadays.
I really enjoyed every moment of this adventure. The story is appropriate with some unexpected twists. Character development is slow but you can feel every distributed points so its not just a dummy feature on the list. Crafting is average nothing special. Quest are good and you can only encouter "collect 10 of these and those" kind only a few times during the game.
I really hope that we're going to get a sequel so we can experience the future of Magalan.
Well im kinda fan of Piranha Bytes games and this one is almost the best so far (almost as Gothic 1 must be the best).
For me this game is the most fun RPG since Morrowind. Surely Morrowind was more immersive, but this world still managed to suck me in pretty well. Time flies by like nothing, you can explore and explore and explore and will always find stuff (lots and lots of hidden stuff, even on top of 30 metres high power polls and windmills which you can only reach with your jetpack and skill).
Very hard and unfair game, this game does not treat you well. You start as a nobody and really have to fight nails and tooth to become stronger. The battle system is really intriguing and the biggest failure of PB is the lack of explanation. The combat system works best if you have impulse control. Start the next attack (with mouse 1) as late as possible, otherwise you don't get combo power. Evade attacks as late as possible otherwise you still get damage. Parry as late as possible, otherwise you do not parry at all. You need full concentration to become a good fighter - in close combat, that is. When you use distance weapons, well, that's not fun, sorry. Do yourself a favor and become a close combat fighter :)
Stay away from this game! The combat is bad and the story is forgettable. The only good thing in this game is the enviroment. I liked the exploring of ruins and other locations but it got boring really fast.
I love the risen series, especially the first one even though it was not a good game it felt nostalgic.
So i was hoping for Elex to have some improved combat but it feels clunky and non impactful. Heck even the rifles in this game is bad and feels super weak.
