I didn't purchace it but..
I want to point out that the original crashed just as often as I'm reading in reviews, so it's probably not the port, but the bugs that were in the games originally. really. does no on remember how buggy it was. I couldn't even play it on xp. or on a slightly older computer then my xp, without it crashing. hope some day some one will put out an non buggy version. I will stay tooned on this

omg... it's 3 am!
Just purchased this evening and literally the night has flown by! It is insanely good, better then I remembered. Bullfrog created awesome games, this one is fantastic. Not sure what the Windows 7 problems are about but I'm running Win 7 64-bit Home Premium and it's awesome, four levels in with no crashes. Such a great concept in that you are the bad guy taking out the noble heros. Great elements of exploration, building, training, managing resources... all in a neat little package that is balanced so it doesn't feel like you need to micro-manage everything so you can focus on larger goals. Plus you get to slap your minions around for motivation, should be an automatic 5-stars for that. Get this game if you are curious at all, Dungeon Keeper 1 has aged quite a bit but this one still stands up over 10 years later.

Working on my Windows 7 (x86)
Great game from my childhood working almost perfectly (a couple of graphical flickers here and there). Just had to right click on the icon on my desktop and run it in compatability mode for XP.

Port works fine on my Vista 64 bit
I think the port has been improved. It works fine on my WIndows vista 64 bit acer aspire laptop. Game is as fun now as it was when I first played it. AWESOME.

possible fix
found this solution, hope it works: RE: [HELP] Dungeon Keeper 2 on Vista OK. 1. Update to 1.7 using this patch. http://updates.mastertronicdownloads.com...3.7_SO.exe 2. Set Compatibility Mode to win 2k or 98. Disable visual themes. 3. Turn OFF Hardware Acceleration. (main reason for directx fucking up) You may have to play with it a little bit but its the solution to everyone's problem. for more help on this go here: http://www.vistax64.com/vista-games/9214...vista.html
