Very fun and simple

I have really enjoyed this game. I play many of the new RPGs, where they shoot for the most immersion they can and complexity is king, which is great, but this a very light-hearted, simple, and great game. Highly recommend it if you are just looking for something to play and have fun with.

Funny, Entertaining, Well Done

Things that may turn off some gamers (not necessarily cons against the game: - Vanilla, unmodded version does not have a lengthy first playthrough - Dialogue/"cut scenes" delivered exclusively through text so those who do not enjoy reading in video games may not enjoy that I picked this game up during GOG's last sale. I had no idea how much entertainment I'd get from this game. The vanilla, unmodded version is not incredibly long, but I don't consider that a drawback. However, if you are looking for a long, hundred hour+ vanilla campaign, this may not be the game for you. I also very much enjoyed the story and how the game delivered it with a jovial attitude. This game requires a lot of reading. I very much enjoyed that, but gamers who do not enjoy reading a lot in games may want to steer clear. Some of the dialogue had me laughing out loud. Combat is done in an ARPG/Diablo-esque style where you have abilities that you unlock in a hot bar at the bottom of your screen and you click on enemies to engage in combat. I played on the easiest setting because I wanted to enjoy the story more than the combat and the game certainly did that (not a lot of enemies). I cannot speak for the difficulty of the higher levels. Overall, I had a great time with Driftmoon. I'd recommend to anyone who just enjoys a nice, fun game that doesn't get too complicated and doesn't take itself too seriously.

Light, funny RPG

Relatively simple but fun indie RPG that plays like an introductory Baldur's Gate. Player engages in melee & archery battles, with mechanics handled by the computer. Stats & party management are basic (single partners come & go according to the plot), but a variety of spells & special moves are available as you level up. One neat feature is weapon crafting; find or buy blueprints, and you can make your own potions & weapons from raw materials you find in the natural world. The amount of money & enemies here seems to be fixed, though (despite plenty of fun quests), so I hesitated to use up my material. What distinguishes the game are its comedy & its little details. Despite a mostly top-down view, the graphics are appealing, and "rooms" are well-designed. Lots of decorations are clickable, providing bits of narration like an adventure game. This game also has some of the most well-written & amusing characters. Highlights include a pompous panther queen (who temporarily joins you) & a pirate hermit crab. The extensive dialogue is well-done by the foreign writers except for a painful lot of comma splices. The plot's pretty standard for RPGs; both this & some of the dialogues are also a little too religiously-tinged. (The developers may wish to consider that not all gamers are religious like them.) But ultimately, the game is much more funny than preachy. Its tone is mostly light, it's low on vulgarity, and it doesn't take itself too seriously. A good choice for preteens & up.

In a word: "Delightful"

It's special when you can experience the love that a design staff has poured into a game. Driftmoon, very much feels like a love letter to old school adventure. Cute humor, an interesting plot, and engaging gameplay make for a fun experience. Length is appropriate (not everything needs to be a 100 hour padded epic). Controls, are clunky at times, and the graphics are serviceable, but not the best in the wolrd. It reminds me of fantasy tales like the "Never ending story" and Chronicles of Narnia. I highly recommend adding this to your collection.
