Junk milking the name of the first game
The first game in the longest journey serious was amazing in so many ways. Dreamfall is the second game and is a piece of junk. Its been a while and I can't find the original detailed review I wrote but I still remember the pertinent points: 1. This "game" is over 90% (not a hyperbole) cut-scene or movie (of which there are 3 kinds). 2. This "game" features only a handful of (single digit) items you collect, each one used to solve a "puzzle". 3. The actual "puzzles" are all very short fetch quests. 4. The plot is a heavy handed political commentary. The only redeemable factor in this game, and the reason it was rated highly... are the graphics. Which are dated in 2012.

Poor game design
The game is really poor compared to The Longest Journey. Very short story (and game), not much to do in it, simplistic, lack the depth of the first, and it leaves you on your appetite big time. Graphics are dated, music is ok, sounds also, and voice acting is just right, but these are superficial things that do not make a game good. DON'T BUY THIS!!! It's not even worth 2$ on GOG or Steam. It's reallly, really bad!

Find her. Save her.
In spite of the shortcomings (I played with a gamepad, which make the combat a lot less frustrating), Dreamfall ranks up there with Indigo Prophecy and Heavy Rain as the best adventure game of the last ten years. I only wish we'd gotten the Dreamfall: Chapters sequel we were promised to fill in some of the blanks on the endings. Other than that, it's a really great time getting to know Zoe and catching up with April Ryan after all these years.

Could been but wasn't
I could not get into this game really when I brought it years ago on PC. I could not get behind the characters much and felt betrayed by the changes from a point-n-click to a game with half-baked combat and 'run away' mechanics. The story is engaging to a degree but the game play itself made it more difficult than it should ever been and something was lost between The Longest Journey to Dreamfall. Might be best to just read a synopsis for this chapter in the series.
