Drakensang is a third-person party-based RPG based on the pen & paper role-play rules of The Dark Eye. Drakensang is the first PC game for over 10 years to be based on Germany's most successful and popular role-play system.
Drakensang builds on the pen & paper rules as applied in version 4.0. The developers have optimized the rulebook specially for the PC realization in order to make the game more accessible. But the essential qualities and the depth of the original rules have not been compromised.
Intensive tactical combat and intriguing quests, embedded in a wonderfully detailed 3D graphic presentation these are the cornerstones of the fantasy epic.

Had a fun 20 minutes or so, then tried the save the game only to have it crash and have none of my data saved. Tried evey forum post I could find on the issue and nothing resolved the issue.
This game runs fairly well, but it is a very early version of this game and literally NO ONE has any kind to play through that can be used when you are stuck! Everything that is available is for later versions, or the on-line version and doesn't apply to this game.
I'm stuck in the first city investigating the deaths, and I have NO idea what I should do next. This game is not very good at clues or aiming you in the appropriate directions to continue the plot.
Sad because until this point, I was enjoying the game as it is.
It MIGHT have been a good game for its time , but not anymore ... For example , if you want to unlock a locked chest , not only do you have to have a relative skill , but you must also have lockpick toolkit (or whatever it 's called) AND you must have it equipped on a quickbar slot AND left - click on the kit and then on the locked chest , WITH NO WARNING FROM SOME TUTORIAL at all ... So ,it has begun to show its age ...
The devs must have been passing around the crackpipe when they created this game.
I have NEVER played a game with more futile navigation and combat tactics, and I have been a gamer since the mid-1980s, witnessing the evolution of gaming from choppy, pixelated, interpolated graphics and mundane story lines, to having compelling and complex plots, smooth, rich textures and intuitive combat and navigational options. I must stress; THIS GAME IS NOT ONE OF THESE. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT *ANY* PRICE.
The camera POV is absolutely absurd!!! It literally has a mind of its own, and will have you nauseated throughout the entire game.
Not to mention, no matter HOW you buff and level up, the bosses are just too powerful and unbeatable.
The game just punishes you 100% of the time, making you scramble for healing every turn of the game.
Sadly, it has JUST ENOUGH intrigue that it hooked me for a long enough period of time, that I simply cannot ask for a refund, although I certainly deserve one, given all the time I've wasted on this title.
I'm proud to say that I have a pretty solid self-esteem, but woe to the person with security issues - this game will push you over the edge.
SHAME on the devs and SHAME on GOG for supporting them by releasing this product and promoting it to me via email like hucksters.
