Door Kickers is an innovative real-time strategy game that puts you in charge of a SWAT team and lets you command them during a tactical intervention. Analyze the situation, plan team routes, choose equipment, breach points and coordinate multiple troopers to reach the hostage room before the bad guys get to press that trigger.

It may sound daunting, and like real world CQB combat, it sure is. But most levels can be completed in minutes, and on the fly improvisation works. Achieving the perfect plan for getting the mission done with no false steps; that is a skill not easily mastered.

For tactics gurus or the persistent

A competent, top-down, tactical RTS game where you get to plan and execute counter-terrorist operations. The game can be frustrating at times especially as you progress to more difficult levels later on, so long-term enjoyment of the game depends on whether you're a guru at tactics games or whether you're just really persistent.

Door Kickers is a game that comes together so well I certainly recommend you give this game a buy. - Game play is smooth and organized. - Plenty of Scenarios and 3 Campaigns as well as the ability to make your own and have mods. - High re playability. - Well done A.I. - A good team of people made this game and listened to the community and stands by their products. - Many Scenarios can be completed quickly so you can pick up and play the game with ease when you have time.

SWAT tactics

As mentioned by others, if you are a fan of tactical combat as in SWAT3/4 or the original Rainbow Six, this game is meant for you. For me it scratched the same itch. At first, I was sceptical about the topdown view. However it works great in the end and a raid has the same level of tension as if it would be an FPS. I admit, I did not get to the campaign yet, as I am still playing the single missions - after hours of gameplay I am still enjoying just the single missions and training my team of police officers. The game has a great learning curve as you really learn new tactics by exploring different situations and combinations of gears and you feel that it is not just by some statistics or in game equipment that your squad grows, but also by you as the commander. There is probalby just one detail I would change - I would appreciate the possibility to alter the path of an officer between the two points. However one quickly learns to live with the limitation and rather plan carefully the steps to avoid the necessity of retracing the path. I would recommend this game at full price, I have no doubts that the authors deserve it for the quality and amount of content (multiple campaigns, a lot of (30+) single missions, generated missions and editor).

Unusual. Funny. Addictive.

Rainbow 6: Siege, now in 2D, with active pause, modding and without crazy-ass gadgets from science fiction. Crazy-ass gadgets can be added via modding though which adds to replayability - resquing hostages while being armed with grenade launchers and heavy flamers may lead to utterly ridiculous amounts of !!FUN!! Wanna play Rambo? You can! Wanna spend 1-2 hours to _plan_ the assault, then to sit back and watch how your soldiers disarm bombs, evacuate hostages and shoot baddies, without casualities? You can! Wanna scrap all plans, adapt on the go, control each movement and each shot in real time? You can! The only downside: lack of recent Steam updates at GOG. Still, I do love playing it from time to time.

Awesome game, terrible bugs/mechanics

Look, this is a really great game, I love the attention to detail which I am really digging so big thumbs up there. Some times tedium in a game is offputting but it seems to be well done in this game which is part of its fun with a few caveats. That said -1 stars for some terrible or rather lets just say missing/unrealistic elements and bugs. Bugs... -Units bug often on the wait for clear to proceed flag. This happens so often I am wondering how this got past QA/Testing. This is the absolute most glarring thing the gets my goat here. Units just look right at an enemy unit and turn away ignorning them. Almost want to remove 2 stars on this one. Mechanics -Really could use a list of actions to take in a single waypoint, like use the peek camera, then kick the door down, toss a flash bang! -no look/lean/shoot around corners, seriously guys why is a corner peek-a-boo not an option here? This is practically sinful as the defending units have the ability to hide behind objects. -too much random. You can litterally run the same plan without a single change until you win making all of the tedium very irrelavent TOO much of the time. -no Shadowing, often times a shadow is employed in tactical situtations to provide support to the unit in front of them. Would really like to be able to tell a unit to shadow for ceratin stretches or to break off and do their own thing.
