Don’t Starve is an uncompromising wilderness survival game full of science and magic.
You play as Wilson, an intrepid Gentleman Scientist who has been trapped by a demon and transported to a mysterious wilderness world. Wilson must learn to exploit his environment and its inhabitants if he ever hopes to escape and find his way back home.
Enter a strange and unexplored world full of strange creatures, dangers, and surprises. Gather resources to craft items and structures that match your survival style. Play your way as you unravel the mysteries of this strange land, in this challenging and unnerving wilderness survival sandbox game.
Uncompromising survival & world exploration. No instructions. No help. No hand holding. Start with nothing and craft, hunt, research, farm and fight to survive.
Dark and whimsical visuals: 2D characters and odd creatures inhabiting a unique 3D world.
Randomly generated new worlds! Want a new map? No problem! At any time you can generate a new living and breathing world that hates you and wants you to die.
Was one of my first PS4 games, enjoyed it very much. Art style is great, and has a lot of charm and humor while also being disturbing. Never got very far, but, maybe now, since I have it on PC, I can actually make some real progress.
Without Don't Starve Together you're missing 80% of the fun! Where is it? Please devs, don't let your games be locked into 3rd party crap DRM bloatware (e.g. Steam). Your game dies with it.
Also ... keyboard remapping anyone?
I'm not going to write an essay here. This game did everything right. Great atmosphere, great sound design, great graphics, and it lets plenty of space for imagination considering the "story".
Klei eventually delivered on the GOG version, and honestly I still like single player Don't Starve even if the multiplayer version (not on GOG) recieves more attention; games are good by it's design not by update quantity.
If you want mods search "Steam mods downloader" and pick a website, then just install the mod on the "mods" folder inside the "Don't Starve" folder. That's the solution that worked for me.
Starvation is the least of your worries in this survival game, in fact the worst enemy is the cheap shot instant death of darkness.
What's more one of the most basic things a survivalist would seek to do (especially seeing how the main characters a science boffin & would be able to look at things logically) is to make shelter even if just to keep out of the weather.
There seems no permanent camp setup you can do because even the reed based sleeping bag is not reuseable and must be stored.
Storage in this game is utter trite as the chest takes essentially 2-3 trees worth of wood meaning most of your game time is spent picking berries travelling and chopping tree's like mad.
You do this time and time again in massed quantities, you get bored plain and simple.
Give it a miss.
