I discovered scriptwelder via Markiplier's Let's Plays of the previous three Don't Escape games, then played them myself to find other secrets and endings. Absolutely loved them. so when I saw this game on GOG, it was a day one purchase.
This is a point-n-click adventure game where everything acts as a giant interactive puzzle. The whole point is to survive four apocalyptic days in a wasteland that was once a vibrant Earth, each day different than the last. Interestingly enough, you won't see all of the possible scenarios on your first playthrough. Based on the raw materials I gathered in my game, there are at least six potential disasters you can encounter. I'm assuming the game randomly chooses which scenarios you face with each playthrough.
The hallmark of the Don't Escape series is, though there's a time limit on the game, time itself doesn't pass until you do something significant, with the game warning you when this happens. As an example, you might see "Walking this street will take you 10 minutes. Do you wish to continue?" Budget your time well and you won't have any issues, though towards the end of each day, you'll start feeling the pressure.
Graphically, this game is retro in the extreme but don't let that deter you. The music is very moody and fits the game's setting nicely. Controls are basic: I for inventory, J for journal, Esc for settings (I changed the font to smooth since I wanted to spare my eyes from the pain). Your mouse does all the heavy lifting.
I enjoyed the story. On Day 2, no matter the scenario, you'll start encountering other survivors. Talk to them. Depending on where you are and what's currently happening, their dialogue can flesh out the game's story a bit more.
If you want to get an idea of what this game will be like, visit armorgames.com and search for Don't Escape. The first three games are freely available for all to enjoy. Then, support scriptwelder's first commercial release and buy this one. You'll love it.
