There are few RPGs I'd dare to call essential, but Divinity: Original Sin 2 stands out among all others as deserving of that accolade. It's undoubtedly one of the best tactical and role-playing experiences you'll ever have on any platform.

Divinity: Original Sin II Definitive Edition is so complex that I think everyone will find something to like, whether it's combat or an exciting story. The best thing I can say about it is that if I'm asked what I liked about it, I can't pinpoint something. It's the complete experience and the feeling of joy that it left behind.

BG3's Older Cousin the accomplished one
I bought this because I've been enjoying Baldur's Gate 3, thought I'd check it out for a little bit, see what its like then switch back to Baldur's Gate 3, three hours later, I've only just stopped. It lacks the spit and polish of BG3, but it has a charm, and you can definitely see how this grew into such a game as BG3. The story seems interesting, and I'm definitely interested in where its going to go. Character customisation and design does leave something to be desired, which is a real shame, but maybe mods can help there, will look at those after finsihing my first playthrough. Highly recommend, especially if you want to continue on with mecahnics like BG3, but in a new environement.
