Fantastic games all around. Music, storytelling, writing, plot, characters, ease of switching classes to try new builds out is awesome. I would put it up there with Baldur's Gate I and II.
I played through most of ye old isometric RPGs, like Baldurs Gate, Fallout, Arcanum, Planescape Torment, ... Divinity Original Sin 2 plays much more fluently than those games. From graphics, character creation, skills to gameplay, this game takes it all to a whole new level (even tough you can only have 3 companions^^). This game is a timesink but also never gets boring, it delivers a very interesting, surprising and creative world well worth exploring. Also, there is an own Editor/Engine available in the Download Section, so you can build your own levels, campaigns, ... An instant classic!
All the Divinity games have been a great enjoyment
RPG element is strong and fun and setting up your team with the right skills/spells and equipment bosters is very well implemented
Graphics are very nice but not taxing on the computer - seem well optimized
Sound and music is well matched to the game and actually catching
One char even have a dialog where she sings - and it sounds great
I also love the light atmosphere and puns scattered through all their games
A great fan of the developer
I've put over 275 hours in on this game over multiple playthroughs. It's just plain fun. The combat is great... there are enough variety of skills and abilities to provide for interesting combos and the pacing is quite good for a turn based system. The story is pretty good and the game world is interesting. Overall the main characters are pretty interesting as well.
It's one of those that pulls you in. The developers have a great sense of humour... just the right amount of fun vs seriousness in the story. Pacing and level and gold income vs need is right on par. Excellent stuff. And it's just plain fun.
The only possible negative I would have to say is that shields are too powerful... it makes it hard to consider certain play styles when you realize how much you are giving up not having one. Other than that the balance is pretty darn good.
This game is such a phenomenal achievement for gaming... The world, story, characters, and gameplay mechanics are developed to such surprising depth that everything feels handmade (and yet polished), you can feel how someone has poured their heart and soul into every aspect of the game. The story is intriguing, combat is hard, but rewarding and there is no challenge that cannot be overcome with some exploring and some good strategy. I've never written a review for a game before, but I was compelled to write down one for this game as it has brought me so much joy, it deserves to be praised.
Note: the game does require involvement. Make sure you will make time for the game, in order to enjoy it. It is worth it.
