Max Stealth or Mad Killer (your choice)

This is a very well written game, the story is very good and the game play is excellent along with high quality graphics also I did not experience a single glitch or bug. I have nothing negative to say about this game. I really like the choice of game play, high quality stealth (think Thief on steroids) or flat out murder monster... your choice and it does effect the way the game unfolds and progresses, not in a huge way but noticeable for sure. The replay value of this one is great because of these choices, I played it twice both ways, going stealth was my favorite and if you do pick the stealth route you are still allowed to kill bad guys if you want just make sure to keep it under five for each level and you will still get a low chaos rating.

One of the best stealth games of all time, the artstyle still holds up. Highly recommend it!

AAA game that could have been more fun

A game of high quality. The dark French Renaissance atmosphere is incredible, and you're really immersed in the game. In my opinion, the fun really starts in the 2nd half of the game. You explore sumptuous mansions, lighthouses and other interesting environments, whereas in the first half you're often in dark alleys, sewers and other more generic places. Game controls are not so great. They're overly complicated and prevent you from carrying out actions quickly and easily. As a result, you often die or get detected. This is very annoying, as you constantly have to load the last save, which takes 5-10 seconds. What's more, because of the constant deaths/detections, you develop the reflex of saving every 2 minutes, which takes you out of the game's atmosphere. I'm sure that for many people this game is a 5 stars, but for me, because of the control, I'm only giving it 4 stars.

A Good But Different Thief Successor

If you are looking for decent stealth and robbery gameplay, this is a pretty good iteration on the genre, though only if you are going for stealth. The story is pretty good, and the dialogue and detail you can miss is great (even heartrending at times). The atmosphere and acting is perfect. Ultimately this is a tale of how a loyal bodyguard and an innocent girl who may as well be his daughter are used and discarded by power-hungry people while an empire's people suffer amid their squabbles. Trying to avoid having to kill everyone is an interesting challenge, though. Unlike Thief, you could easily kill anyone in sight if you wanted to, but doing so will make the game a bit harder and lead to worse outcomes. My first playthrough I went all in for a non-lethal run, and I failed a lot and needed to save-scum at times, but it wouldn't be nearly as tough or long if you could allow for a few fatalities. The supernatural powers make everything much easier (almost too easy), but there's no incentive to limit their use in the game. I give 5 stars because I think it does almost everything it tries to do with great quality, but it's not the best game of this type if you want something where the player is limited more in ability and has to be stealthy out of necessity.
