The only thing louder than the dinosaurs' roars were the voices of gamers worldwide demanding the return of a survival horror classic.
We've listened – and now, the legendary Dino Crisis is back, fully playable on modern PCs.
Thanks to the tremendous efforts of Capcom and GOG, Regina’s iconic line, 'You’re extinct!' no longer applies to the game itself. The timeless thriller that defined a generation of gamers is made to last forever, enhanced for today’s systems, featuring all the original content you loved with numerous improvements.
The wait is over. Dino Crisis has been resurrected. And…
It will totally consume you. All of you.
Three years ago. A scientist died in an accident during an experiment. His research was on “Third Energy,” a completely clean energy source. The accident occurred just as government funding had been cut off because the project was deemed unfeasible. To the public, it was nothing more than an insignificant piece of information. Until now.
An agent dispatched to a small country in the South Seas to investigate a top-secret military project brought back surprising information. At a military research facility in the Republic of Borginia, a scientist who was supposed to have died three years ago in our country has resumed his research activities in the field of Third Energy. Regina, a member of the government's spy team, was tasked with retrieving the doctor.
She heads to the isolated island of Ibis, where the military facility is located. The dark elite are trained for every conceivable challenge. For them, it is just another “job” as usual…

Let’s go back in time to the PlayStation 1 era and reminisce about how Dino Crisis was presented to gamers back in 1999:
Raw Instinct takes over in this new, adrenaline-pumping journey into Survival Horror. Something is terribly wrong. Your covert mission to infiltrate an isolated research compound has gone haywire… now you find yourself pursued by a relentless, prehistoric terror. Suddenly, your mission becomes a desperate fight for survival.

I'm happy it's released and we need to show Capcom that we are interested by Dino Crisis.
we need some fixes for FPS drops, texture glitching and support GOG Overlay.
This is a great port with upscaling for modern systems. A game I remember fondly from my younger days. Expect the typical Capcom fair for the time period. Tank controls, Check. Hyper-violent, Check. Terrible dialogue with bad voice acting, Check.
Firstly, I want to thank GoG for their Games Preservation Program. Video games are an art and just like paintings or sculptures, they need to be protected and saved for future generations to enjoy.
Dino Crisis fans may want to look away.
Now, I’d heard for years that Dino Crisis is basically Resident Evil with Dinosaurs. That the same team that made RE made DC. That there were several similarities, limited ammo, deadly enemies, being stuck in a isolated, dangerous environment. And, to their credit, that is true.
However, the execution of those similarities is where this entire thing falls to pieces. Firstly, there are only 3 weapons. Three. Larger than 2, but less than 4. A handgun, a shotgun and a grenade launcher. The variety comes with weapon upgrades and ammo types. But still...3 weapons total?!
Then there is the fact that, unlike Resident Evil, which does give you enough ammo to kill everything you run into (except perhaps the hardest difficulties), Dino Crisis is VERY stingy with the ammo, and that’s on normal difficulty. So much so, everything from the game itself, to strategy guides on the net say you need to run away from every enemy you can. That standing your ground and fighting is the WRONG answer. Because, unlike slow, shambling zombies, you have fast, large, deadly dinosaurs roaming the place. And apparently, even though they are just regular, time displaced dinos, that have NOT been experimented on, enhanced or powered up in ANY WAY, these normal dinos take WAY too much firepower to finally kill. Really, our military should pull a Jurassic Park and bring dinos back, because they can stand up to grenade rounds and several shotgun shells and bullets before dying. Not to mention the T-Rex, who is literally invincible! Even taking an explosive grenade to the mouth just annoys it.
All in all, if you are looking for a Resident Evil style survival horror game, this isn’t it. Get Onimusha instead. They recently remade the first 2 of those.
