Just finished Diablo for the first time ever, and it was surreal and made me question what I felt about the series as it has progressed. Amazing what having small numbers with visible performance changes can do to a game's readability. Truly a challenge, start to finish, until it boils down to you stunlocking Diablo and noshing full rejuvenation potions. But such is life. This was a fairly masterful port to Windows 10, lots of enhanced graphics settings that will ensure that the game looks crispy and clean, even at 1440p (and I'm assuming 4K) on modern hardware with minimal screwing around. I cannot recommend this more highly if you're looking to jump back in, or are looking for a new, old adventure. Can't wait to take Warcraft and WC2 for a spin. Glad Blizzard unleashed the Kraken on GOG, since they seemed to have absolutely zero interest in delivering their classic products for modern PCs. To think I would have missed out on this...

This game is a classic for a reason. The atmosphere is by far the best in the series, even if it obviously lacks the scale and quality of life improvements in D2 The biggest issue I have here is with Blizzard - it blows my mind that the only way they were willing to service this game's online community was to... do nothing at all; just force people to play the legacy version of the game on legacy Blizzard servers. If they wanted to do anything consumer-friendly here, and maybe jazz their own product up for the 21st century, they would have worked with GoG to offer server support to the improved version. Of course, that would cost money - like all game development does. Seems like they were hoping for a quick buck. But on GoG's end, this is a great score. The GoG version is indeed improved, and to be honest I don't mind not playing with anyone online. This is more of a solo game for me than Diablo 2.

It probably mainly appeals to those that were around when it was first released but I can see some new to it enjoying it. It really should have had the Hellfire expansion available with it though.

If you've played and enjoyed games like Torchlight or Grim Dawn, you owe it to yourself to play this absolute classic. With great atmosphere, addictive gameplay and a perfect sense of progression, this game won't disappoint.
