The game itself is alright. However, it's quite dated, and 14$ for a more than 2 decade old game is far too much.

Good release, if you don't already own the CD's Pointless, if you have the CD's I own the original and I have hellfire. I bought this, because I thought they enhanced something. As such, this was a complete waste of my money. Not only are the old CD's 100% usable, but, if you install Belzebub, or a number of other mods, you will get actual high resolution graphics.

Where's the Mac version. I played the hell out of Diablo 2 on my MacBook back in the day. I don't own a Windows-based PC so that excludes me and I'm sure plenty of other players without Windows. I wanted to give this game a five-star rating based on the game itself but without wider support, I just can't give it more than one star. Now I dread that the Warcraft 1 and 2 releases coming soon will befall the same fate.

I still have this, and the expansion hellfire, on CD. It's not the best Diablo (even in comparison to Diablo 3) when you consider that run at the exact same speed as the enemies so when the archers run away you will have to chase after them forever. This is a pain, among many other things that are greatly improved in Diablo II. That being said, though, this is still a fantastic game and the first in the action RPG. I remember it making waves at the time it came out. Complaints of it being too difficult because you had to actively play it were common, and people often said it wasn't as good as other CRPGs, like Baldur's gate, because of it. These people are crazy, and they still exist today. This game is historic. That being said, it's hard to recommend. You can still get Diablo II from Blizzard, as well as the expansion to that. That is a better game overall than this one. But, if you want to see where all the references in World of Warcraft or Diablo 2 or 3 come from this is one of the games they reference constantly. Or if you want to play the first Diablo. You could check it out for that too.

I'm giving it three stars because its still the grandfather of hack and slash games we all know and love, but it doesnt "updated" for modern systems. The interface is clunky, and graphics have been stretched (might as well play with a low screen res. Results.might be better, even). I'm pretty sure I've seen better hi-res adaptations (Freeablo, for one). As far as remasters go, it's a pretty lazy one.
