I watched some older relatives play Diablo 2 when I was a kid but I've never played a single game in this series until now. I'm doing a playthrough on all 3 classes before I move onto Diablo 2. It's just so fun. The music and sound FX really draw you in. I find myself leaning more towards my monitor the longer I spend in a dungeon level. The game is so high quality the age is irrelevant. I'm almost 30 so I remember when games were actually hard and this is such a delightful reminder of that time. I find myself puzzled at certain times or frustrated with the difficulty and then I have to re-evaluate the way I'm playing and come up with my own solutions. No fairy or prompt pops up to tell you what to do. It's just really great old-school gaming. 10/10 can't wait to move on to Diablo 2.

Giving Blizzard a credit for keeping memory of the very juice of the Diablo series, and allowing us to play it the legit way once again. So cool the multiplayer is working as well. Hellfire should get one too.

I had previously played Diablo 3 a while back and had some expectations of what's to come but the games are hardly comparable. Entering the dungeon and attacking the first mob was the pan that hit my face and proved me wrong. I found out that I can miss and the mobs hit rather hard. But I quickly got the hang of it and started making progress. The quest system wasn't the best but the game is older than me so I can't really blame it. Exploring down the levels of the dungeons was fun and felt rewarding and many times it was lethal. The cinematics, although only three, were pretty good and gave you that feeling. The Hellfire dungeons looked awesome but the ending was quite anticlimactic because after killing the last boss there was no cinematic, no fancy reward or event, it was just over and you were left to keep descending the normal dungeon to kill Diablo and it left me quite puzzled so that I had to google to see whether I was missing or did something wrong.

There are aspects here not even Diablo 2, let alone 3 could capture. It's the simplest Diablo title, and that is part of the charm. It's a game of atmosphere and there is nothing quite like it. But the visual design is an acquired taste, and the game comes from a time when a dev would tell the game engine how a keyboard and mouse work. It might come across clunky to someone not already 'in' the nostalgia. Having started the series from here, I've naturally been 'in' the nostalgia from the start. Runtime may be hit or miss. For my personal experience the rating is a 5. But it's variable enough to a newcomer's eyes I cannot give it the full 5 for the ages. With an apparent regular crew of people downvoting mixed/negative reviews though, it's clear there is still an audience. So if you have the spare change and like the classics, this is worth a try.

I had mixed feelings when I started this game the first time. I mean, I played it first time when it arrived to this site. When I saw that you cant run as in Diablo 2 I was... sad. But I persevered and after couple of hours it was just fine. It didn't bothered me much. And then I found out mod: Diablo HD mod (Project code name: Belzebub) I still cant run but now everything looks/feels much better! Now I LOVE the game!
