As I said - game is fun until you realize every game will look absolutely the same. It takes 15 minutes to get like 80% of votes and than... nothing to do. Plus DLCs are absolutely useless. I need also to mention you pretty much need to be 150%-socialist. Otherwise - you will fail immediately.
The game can be fun to just try to play and make a country work. But I think that it would have been really fun to try to explore different political ideas and it seems like any time you start going down an interesting road you get assassinated. I mean, do they always have the most inept secret service agents ever. It really took away some of the fun that you couldn't explore some really interesting an off the wall ideas. So at the end of the day, I feel like it failed.
It seems very very interesting. But at the end, most of the policies have marginal impact and there is only one way to succeed; left and interventionist policies.
It seems the creators did not pay much attention on economic knowledge to expand and adjust the connections between the policies and or the matters treated.
Unstable, unrealistic, too easy gameplay. They try to solve the latter with nonsense behavior, causing crises without apparent reason. The most probable ending is assasination, even if you manage to achieve a wonderful utopia for your citizens. Forget that. The most probable ending is reaching a point in which you cannot continue, because the game closes without even showing an error. And it does not matter how many times you restart it: starting a new game is the only option for a while, until even that does not work.
On the positive side, interface is original and intuitive. That is the only good point.
It would be an acceptable 5$ game, but at its current price, it is a waste of money.
Is this game fun?
Yes, for the first few times. After that you realize that every game will play out the same.
I won two times with huge approvals when I subsidized everything and made all drugs, prostitution and gambling legal. This was in Germany and the USA.
In Australia for some reason you start off with max crime and unemployment. Why is it that way? Australia is not that bad IRL. No matter what I do, I get assassinated. So the only fix for this is max police force, max armed police, max intelligence agency, and wire tapping at least on "by request from police". Other law things help too, but these are the most important ones. Even with these sometimes you still get assassinated, although the chances are MUCH lower. Gaining the approval of citizens is still very hard. Subsidizing everything doesn't help here at all, even though it seems like either socialists or religious fanatics want to kill me. Oh, and capitalists too very rarely.
In conclusion I would not call this game realistic at all. It's fun, but only for a while. After that it gets boring. Mods help, but they don't fix the game's lack of depth.
Maybe buy this on a sale. Big sale.
