Adds a nice bit of variety
Honestly, the official description above is accurate in describing what you'll find here, so make sure you read it, unless you're a big fan of the game at which point I think you'll probably just want to buy this. The Good: The new environments give a fresh bit of visual interest for those who are tired of the same derelict backgrounds, though only really when encountering one of the planets. Miner class is fun to play and gives more variety to your party. It has shields, a scavenger tool, and the new heavy ranged weapon which has specific mods to outfit it for cryo, fire, and/or acid effects. A big advantage this character is the ability to decimate enemy armor and pick up some attacks that hit multiple enemies at once. Like all classes, the ability tree is unique and gives interesting upgrade choices (the Miner is a base class, there are no new specializations here). New takes on enemies add some nice variety, along with all new enemies on the planets. Settlements expand on the random trader that you would otherwise just find on a derelict. They also introduce fighting multiple waves of enemies in one battle to change the mechanics a little. The new equipment and missions also came into play pretty quickly for me and have injected some fresh life into the play. Ship-wide environment conditions provide new obstacles that give some distinction to some derelicts. The Bad: I'm not sure there is anything I found lacking or disappointing. I think it succeeds in delivering what it promised in the description. Bottomline: I really appreciate the base game of Deep Sky Derelicts, and so I welcome the additional materials. In my opinion, it's not changing the core game, but rather adding on to it to keep things fresher for additional attempts. If you like this game, you will likely be happy with this DLC.
