Beneath you floats magnificent, untamed Gallius IV, a terran world newly discovered in this disputed part of the galaxy. Your colony ship is ready, equipped with all the basics you need to settle this planet. The select group of colonists orbiting with you are prepared both to build a strong colony and to defend it to the last stone. Other ships are also scanning the planet's surface, choosing the landing site for their colony. All past allegiances have been cast aside in the fever for this world.
In Deadlock, an intense turn-based strategic simulation, seven races colonize a virgin planet, but only one will survive. Build your province’s structures. Conduct research to advance your race. Devise the perfect strategy of diplomacy, intimidation and warfare. Every decision you make will determine the ultimate fate of your people, your empire, and your survival.
Choose to command the human or one of six other alien races, each with unique strengths, weaknesses, and needs.
Engage in tactical combat with a wide variety of land, air and sea-based military units.
Advanced custom game options and planet generation provide high replayability and depth of play.

First, let me say that while I requested this game a while ago through this site, given the relative lack of popularity of the game (with minimal votes compared to many other requested games), I did not imagine it would actually get added. Thank you, GOG!!
As for my brief review, let me say that this fairly unique (especially for its time) TBS brings some interesting elements to the mix, with a heavy emphasis on technological and colonial development. Truly, simplicity is what makes this game shine. There is depth to be had here with diversity between the available races that alter strategic approaches to dominating a respective planet. That being said, this game is perfect to pick up and put down, so to speak. It is deep enough to engage, simple enough to learn quickly, and easy to pause and put down.
Cool little game, but be warned that GOG's version has something weird going on if you play it in windowed mode (its default setting) where the menu is hidden and unreachable underneath your start bar (if you have your bar located on the top of the screen that is).
One way to solve it is to play in fullscreen mode but this is unwise because it will always eventually crash if you play fullscreen.
