Played this game at least 3x all the way through and had different experience each time, Loved some of the characters, but the depth of conversation was fairly shallow. One of my better game purchases for under $10 in the last couple of years.
It's not perfect. The combat is slow (on Normal difficulty: the enemies dies much quicker on Casual) and feels like a chore at times. It gets repetitive.
But I found the gameplay loop (level up and equip survivors, go out and kill zombies, craft stuff, level up and equip survivors, go out and kill zombies) quite addictive (in a fun way) and the story events and character interactions kept me interested. Some of these are randomised, so there's replayability, and each new character starts out a bit stronger than the previous one due to upgrade points you'll earn. I found all this very engaging.
It ran smoothly: no bugs in my playthroughs. Some of the mechanics aren't clearly explained but you'll figure them out over time, especially if you look through the "Equip" and "Gear" screens early on. Many of the enemies, items, skills & stats have an info pop-up if you hover over them. The game's by no means broken or mystifying.
As soon as the gameplay (assumedly) begins, the game crashes. Not surprised, the beginning was glitchy and freezing already and there was absolutely nothing happening.
Well, gotta say at the very first chapter (prologue) I realized I wouldn't enjoy this game. It's not that turn-based combat against zombies put me off (although allowing same size action windows for your characters and zombies alike is a bit strange) but I let that slide.
However, at about the third or fourth battle we encounter an Undead Nurse, which has two special abilities: she can poison you with her attacks (which is fine) and also heal her zombies comrades during battle. Yes, she heals her brethren, other walking corpses, which as already dead. And she heals them.
At that point I quit and uninstalled the game. You may not be as picky as me when it comes to context, but from that point on I knew I simply wouldn't enjoy the game. As a turn combat RPG, it might be okay though, so go ahead if stuff like this don't bother you.
Its not balanced! Timed quest, when fail - a teammate will leave you! Night raids are soo strong - that almost full upgrade guard will not stop them - and this is not even mid game! You need 2 almost full upgrade guards! Or you got robbed and game over. But 2 guards and no one will go to work, coz camp is very small and game over. Teammate quest send me for AK 47 to get, but finall boss is soo strong that kill my teammate and this is game over. There is too much hidden mechanics and hidden timed events that will ruin your game. Im done!
