Prepare yourself to enter Darklands - the first realistic fantasy role-playing game. Leading a band of four adventurers across the sinister landscape of 15th Century Germany, you’ll face the Middle Ages as people believed it to be: land filled with mythical beasts, religious power-mongers, and bloodthirsty robber-knights!
Watch savage battles unfold before your eyes! Travel hundreds of miles by land and sea from Frisian Coast to Bohemia, from the alps to Prussia, visiting over ninety cities along the way.
Your quest for fame and fortune can take you through raucous city streets and dark mine shafts, or from a robber knight’s tower to the terrifying Witches' Sabbath! Get ready for the astonishing wonders of a realistic fantasy adventure in the mysterious Darklands!
I like pretty much everything about it! I've been playing it for the past 8 hours! although the writing is a bit hard to read at times. the people who made this should have taken the background colors into consideration. aside from that, it's a perfect gane!
Holy crap this game rules. Forget what you know about modern RPGs, this game is simultaneously balls-2-the-wall hard and yet devilishly clever and satisfying. seriously, if you like the Elder Scrolls, then pick this hidden gem up now!
I remember digging this up in some obscure bargain bin and thinking "sounds cool, I'll buy it". It came on something like 10 floppy disks, and of course the last one didn't work! After hours with disk doctor I managed to install Darklands - and boy was it worth it! Shame this didn't turn into a franchise, everyone give this epic RPG a try.
This was close to getting a 5/5 but, after only about ten minutes of play, I realized the in-game economy was broken. I didn't want to find this exploit but it's pretty glaring. I think the game is worth the 5.99, but you'll have to add your own "hardcore" challenges. I suggest playing in "Geezer Mode" where you try to win with the oldest party possible. "Vagabond Mode" might be cool, where in you pick only that job and sleep outside (I apologize if that's un-pc since homelessness is a serious ish). Since I've only invested an hour into DL thus far, I'd like to hear about any changes you make to improve the gameplay experience. Be good.
