WE definitely need a DLC style upgrade to ultimate edition. So many other games permit this, please do the same at a reasonable price. It would encourage me to play Cyberpunk again.
Namaste...
I posted another review about Cyberpunk about it being a rough ride for the people who jumped in and had a hard time with it. I sent in a request to have that review removed so I could post this one. I preordered the game and expansion and felt burned both times because of how the initial release was handled and then not getting the Ultimate edition after preordering both game and Phantom Liberty. I logged into the game to do some testing, "Intel i9 14900K crash issue" and I noticed that the CD PROJECT RED launcher did in fact state "Ultimate Edition"!! It took a while but CD PROJECT RED has, in my book done about as much as they can at this point for the loyal customers and fixed the mess they had into an amazing work of art. Most of the other developers would have given up due to cost and lack of patience and left the customer to deal with the fallout but what they accomplished with this game is pure magic, it is obvious it has been a true passion and labor of love to make this amazing game! I applaud what they have done and their loyalty to its fan base, it is a rare thing to get this kind of support from any company, Thank you CD PROJECT RED!!
When I first played the game when it was originally released I rated it a 2. It had its moments but a lot of the game felt superficial. And not to mention the awful performance crippling any fun to be had. From playing Witcher 2 and Witcher 3 I knew CDPR didn't have a great track record of releasing performative games but Cyberpunk was rough. I still remember all the billboard cars in the distance and the sparse streets where people disappeared as soon as you turned around along with police spawning behind you.
After my second playthrough with the release of Phantom Liberty the game felt complete. Mechanics, abilities, guns all felt more filled out. The quest felt more meaningful. The story felt more interesting and alive. Being in the Cyberpunk universe felt more exciting.
I wish they would create another few expansions but I believe this is it.
My only gripe is I found it very annoying you couldn't unequip weapon mods without installing a mod.
I completed CP2077 a couple of times and Phantom Liberty once.
In all cases I was reminded of other games with similar features that I had more fun with.
Watch Dogs 1 and 2 for driving and hacking. Deus Ex everything for cyberpunk features. The Witcher series for storytelling. The city was not fun to drive in, nothing flowed, the missions were OK and all in all I was left with a Stephanie Sterling "It's fine" 7/10 experience.
This is a great game and is in my top 3 list of games. Great stroytelling; gameplay is fun. With 2.2 most bugs seem to be fixed - there are some minor issues but nothing serious.
Looking for a buzzword...quintruple A? Maybe quadruple and a half or so.
