It's a shame people feel so empowered by hating, even more when they do so from the safe place of never creating anything and putting it out there for the world to critique and attack. Trashing a product from a consumer's point of view without having any idea (or interest) of the problems a production can have, and being so unfair and unforgiving with a great production such as this one will only result in companies giving up and just going for the safe option of poor and mediocre content (in gaming or in any creative area). Cyberpunk 2077 took risks, has ambicion and stands out in visuals, gameplay and story.
Go CD Projekt! Your work is awesome and no matter what, this will remain!
In summary: A work of art with several flaws.
1) The hype: 8 years of hype is a fundamental part of that game and has had at least 2 major impacts on the player's experience. 1st and most obvious: the failures were felt as betrayal and greatly disrupted the experience of those who played at the launch. 2nd: it was 8 years of content that the company provided us and I can say that I really enjoyed each video, each presentation, I’ve never seen a marketing done so well and I thank you for having the opportunity to live this pre-game experience, it was breathaking.
2) The launch: if CDPR were honest they would have warned that it was a beta version of the game. no further.
3) The graphics: Impressive. The complexity of the city is phenomenal, the design of each neighborhood, the choice of color palettes ... CDPR is to be congratulated! However, it is frustrating not to see yourself in the reflections of mirrors, windows, etc, this breaks immersion a lot, maybe it is worse than the bugs. The customization is very interesting, but I missed a greater variety of clothes, pants and blouses from MOX, car customization, neon, etc. Performance: I have an RTX 2080 and with maximum quality I kept FPS between 55-65 rarely reaching 30-40. At 1440 p it keeps 30-60 depending on the environment.
4) The controls/difficulty: crouch for skipping dialog is the major problem but the game should have better keys choosing. Its not a FPS, so the rest is adequate. The hard difficulty is not so hard especially with some builds. The Hacker build should've be more unique. It's not.
5) The narrative: Great!!! I've played for over 145 h and I'm still descovering plots, hidden secrets, etc. By far this is the best game narrative I can remember. Only problem: there is no relevance to the life paths we chose at the beginning, some decisions should be more impactful;
6) Hotfixes/After-sales: Improving everyday. The game is realy cheap for what it delivers.
Maybe I've been lucky, but I haven't encountered any major bugs so far and only a few minor ones that haven't bothered me at all. The story is great and the side missions are not generic like so many other games. I've really enjoyed it.
I'm not a big gamer, but I gladly picked the Cyberpunk mainly for nostalgia reasons (played alot of paper RPG back in a day). The estetics of CP2077 are just spot on, story was engaging ane emersive, characters well writen, and OMG... THE MUSIC! On my PC, the game never crashed. I had fev minor bugs, but nothing game breaking. I will 100% come back to it, when my schedule clears up a little bit. :)
So, this is it.
The game we've all been waiting for. Keanu Reeves, Night City, Customisable genitals, etc. (You know the rest)
FIrst of all, the story and narrative is great, bit too small and feels rushed but great. Memorable cast and a good overall mostly linear story with small RPG elements.
Night City is great, has a lot of gigs and reported events and this and that to do but lacks places to simply hang out around (yes I know there are bars and that roller-coaster thingy) but nothing more.
Gunplay is great. The driving is okay-ish (feels a bit more better after Patch 1.2.)
Not a huge fan of the looter shooter elements and also tedious grind when it comes to money.
Well, I would say to just buy and experience it for yourself and I am also hoping for the updates that will 'NMS' this game.
