A work of Art, regardless.

This game is certainly not what everyone expected, so it got the controversy it did, among other issues. But I love it, because it feels alive and rewarding and keeps calling me back, more than the Witcher did. I have longed for a game with a city that feels alive, and boy did Fallout 4 disappoint me in that regard, just to make a comparison. Night City is a beast of a place, the anime certainly helped, and the music in this game really adds to the feeling, especially since some of the pieces have some lore interaction etc. But this city feels alive, (yeah, dont look to closely, technical stuff, but if you glance over it and just focus on your own thing while playing, you will see what I mean). I want to be there, i really feel like i am in a heartless metropolis. Small little stories everywhere around me, dirt, violence, jokes, blasts of music from every direction.... The perk and attribute system is nice, and in itself offers replayability value, on my 3rd run right now just to punch people in the face with gorilla arms. And boy does it feel funny to blast someone across 5 meters with a shotgun and see them flopping on the ground :) The issue with the story is a big one. It's short. Some people might argue thats its simple and nothing new, but i loved being in it, and i just wish there was more. You are very free in this game also, even on my third playthrough, where ive been thourough on every one, i still find new ways to tackle "enemy camps" and find new details i never noticed before. So despite all the hate and controversy, i thank the people who made this game, i really see the love put into this one.

Never buy a game when it comes out!

When it comes to video games, there is one rule I always follow: I never buy a new one when it comes out. I always wait for at least a year, until the game has already been patched. In this case, I waited for two years... and my rule worked out fine once again. Before the purchase of Cyberpunk I had my doubts, because I am not a fan of shooters, especially FPSs... Let us make a digression at this point. Just like The Witcher 3 was not a cRPG, Cyberpunk is not a cRPG. The Witcher 3 was an open-world, third-person action game with some elements of a role-playing game. However, it was not the gameplay that made the game so unique, but rather the story, the plot, the characters and the music. Because this is what CD Project Red is good at: they are able to create a unique atmosphere, a unique experience. And that's what Cyberpunk is like: it's so unique to feel. The plot and the characters are even more interesting than they were in The Witcher 3. Well, the music is worse, but I still love listening to the radio while motorcycling through Night City. Back to the point... Cyberpunk is a first-person shooter, but the player does not have to deal with the problems in an aggressive way. In fact, there is a stealth game that is really well programmed. Far better than in The Witcher 2. In most situations, the player is free to choose whether to use his or her guns, cold weapons, hacking - a substitute for magic - or to go stealthy. An open-world FPS in a cyberpunk setting with elements of role-playing, where the player is absolutely free to choose his or her style of play... That sounds like something good old Warren Spector used to dream about. Exactly as Deus Ex was originally conceived, only thirty years later. There will still be DLC with a price tag. It is still possible that things will go wrong and that we will have to wait another year for a patch for the DLC. But for the time being, I would recommend the basic version of Cyberpunk 2077 without a second thought.

I love it!

Very immersive, the world looks and feels amazing. The story and missions are engaging and deep. I play with a controller on pc and haven't had any issue's that bothered me. Recommend highly.

I loved this game

Maybe I have a lower bar than others for what's considered a good story. Maybe I had ideal hardware to play this game. Maybe I just did what everyone else should have done and waited around a year for the kinks to be worked out before I started playing, but I really enjoyed this game. The world and atmosphere are rich, though can sometimes feel empty (I think this was fixed since I played) where there wasn't much activity going on. The styles and vibrant colours were enjoyable. There's lots to do and explore, and I spent a lot of time just cruising around night city and chilling out in my various apartments. The combat, in my opinion, was really fun. There's a lot of styles you can play like, especially when you count in the skill tree. You can built your character out to be a sword swinging death machine, or pistol wielding gunslinger, a sniper, etc. They all have their advantages at different points of the game as you come across large open areas as well as tight quarters frequently throughout the game. The cyberware mods add a fun twist too, though the mods were lacking (although I wish there were more). I didn't even know I could improve my jumping until post-completion. The driving feels slightly clunky, I can't put my finger on why, it feels like you're always riding on rough off-road terrain, but it makes sense why when you're running over curbs and stuff, but for some reason it just doesn't feel fluid or right, at least compared to any driving sim. I played with a mouse and keyboard, but used an xbox series X controller for driving so I had the joystick range too. The story I thought was fun, exciting, and engaging. I really enjoyed the voice acting and plot. The music was top notch. I spent hours doing nothing but cruising around listening to different stations. I recommend this game to anyone that likes the style.

Immersive Masterpiece

Moving past the shakey start in one short sentence. Entered years late despite pre-ordering, found the 1.6s to be an excellent adventure with some questionable design elements. Now with 2.0 the game feels like a lean and masterfully cut version of what I already fell in love with. The city sights and sounds are the real draw here, though the story and its characters are nothing to scoff at either. What actually drove me to write the review was how well the game runs. Even on an old 1080ti which, admittedly, was a great purchase with great legs. Constantly surprised and impressed by a modern title looking like this while also maintaining 60+ fps and having snappy saving and loading. Makes it a joy to load up, or even quit, knowing I'm getting a beautiful world in a snap.
