So many crashes, bugs.
Playing with my controller on PC cuz i cant change some of my keybindings
Should have taken longer to work on this game instead of rushing things.---> 8 years it took but we'd gladly waited another year if all the bugs & crashes were fixed ;)
• While the work that has gone into it is great, it needs more, have spotted about 5 characters in a T-Pose, Main Story quest once completed is always selected by default, camera will sometimes throw you into 3rd person.
• The Race missions are badly scripted. with the cars always teleporting behind you at a distance.
• No police chase you at all, no police even drive around Night City and in fact, none even patrol on foot, should you get the police on you, they can just teleport to you!
• you hear an ambiance, but the NPC are lifeless, and the motion and animations do not differ, NPC hate walking up a hill or an incline and will clip through the floor.
• Cars in the far distance are poor 2D images and do not even match any of the cars in the game, Cars will teleport randomly on top of each other.
• While first person in a car the world bloom is blown out and ruins the driving experience.
• Lots of NPC that you do missions with are ventriloquists, because their mouth does not move at all, While I have played this game for almost 50 Hours, these are some of my biggest issues.
Should you buy the game, probably not, do I believe these will be fixed? I really hope so and if they do, then with its current issues, get it.
I'll update this later once I've finished the game, but so far I'm enjoying the story and the aesthetic is second to none. There's ambiance in Night City on a level I haven't seen in a game before. The level of detail is seriously impressive and there's a ton of exploring around the city you can do just to see the sights. The main storyline and side quests so far have kept me engaged and interested as well, so good marks there. Characters (including side characters) are voiced well and are all interesting to a good degree. Gunplay is slow, but has real impact and without regenerating health (yet) it feels dangerous in a good way. I found myself giving gang bangers a wide berth sometimes because I wasn't ready to take them on without a serious risk my my own health.
Then we get to the huge BUT. The game completely falls on its face if you scrutinize anything. The mechanics are quite shallow and don't feel very impactful. Choosing your storyline at the start is a joke and means nearly nothing except a few cop-out dialogue options. There just is no AI in the game at all, and it completely kills the immersion. The NPCs in the streets don't do anything besides awkwardly pathfind around each other. The vehicles have literally no AI at all, they can only follow paths on the streets. Civilians don't run for cover when anything happens, they just kind of all hunker down in exactly the same position. Enemies don't have any sense of self-preservation at all, rarely taking cover and will happily rush you with a knife even if you're wielding an LMG.
The police though, good god the police. Do anything bad and they just spawn behind you, no ifs, ands, or buts. Nothing you can do about it and it doesn't matter where you are. Then, even if you just mowed down a bunch of their friends they'll forget about you as soon as you round a few corners.
The TL;DR is that it's fine. I don't think it's $60 fine and it sure wasn't what we were told it would be. Huge disappointment.
I am going to come back to the game in a few months. I really want it to work. The story line is great and the voice acting is also top notch. However, the further I progress the more I find myself restarting the game because I either get trapped in a corner, get stuck jacking into a terminal, get stuck after getting run over by a car, or my weapons stop working. There are things that can be overlooked but I find it worthy to mention them as well. I constantly see floating objects that npc's were using but end up just floating in space. I see a number of npc's doing the "T" pose. I also see them smoking things other than their smoke. I have seen dozens of cases where cars will just pop into existance causing a crash or vehicles flying through the air. I have lost count of how many times I can not pick something up because I can get in the right position to pick it up. I have also had to backtrack my steps a number of times trying to trigger a dialog event. I guess I must have some how passed by the trigger that would start conversations. Initially it was amusing, then frustrating now its just unplayable until enough gets fixed to make it worth while. I can be a great game. It just did not bake long enough. I know it came out late but I would have rather waited. One of the reasons why I bought the game on GOG was to support the team and hopefully get a great game. Unfortunatly my faith in this franchise is somewhere around what silverhand was probably thinking about V when they first met. I hope to raise this to 4 or 5 stars in a few months.
The game starts interesting, flashy, in your face action. Although story wise, I was barely hanging on to be honest. It does somewhat pick up for me, but Cyber really ran on hype more then anything. And it does not help that it can feel shallow enough to give off an Ubisoft vibe at times. No, I am not joking. The map takes NO time feeling in with the same mundane activity. Some, are intersting, true. But a lot are, steal this, kill that, move on. So you open your map, select, go to, complete, etc, etc. Where as Witcher3, I usually just ran in a direction.
Its a shame too. My mind is blown this is Cd. Granted, as I have been telling ppl, "Come up by one game, fell down by one game". I am not saying hard work and determination is not present, it truly is. Good job, as far as I am concerned with some of the things in this game. However, it takes NO time to see either short cuts taken, or cares not given.
I cannot look away from becoming bored while playing. I am running through the story faster then most games! I love to take my time, run through the world, meet different ppl, do different activites. However Cyber eventually reminds me, I NEED something to make me FEEL like I am moving forward. And instead of a world around me with things to do, it auto selects the next mission after completing another.
I think one of the issues I have, granted, I do understand this design decision, is the mission you get are usually given to you by phone. So instead of face to face, where you are around other NPC, you're usually solo, from this place to the next.
Mix this with the controls, and the current gossip around Cd, and I feel kind of sick to my stomach. I truly thought we had a beacon. I am not saying all faith lost, but this is the last time I throw money ahead of release. I did it to reassure them, I got you! I trust you. Take your time. I know some of us can be A-holes Cd, but stop looking at them, and focus on us.
Final Score: Makes me want to play W3 again.
