The story on the game is great but you still will experience alot of bugs but its not unplaybe. the only problem is the game feels empy just random npcs walking around cluelsly and you cant intract with anything. only times is when your in a mission i dont see myself exploreing the map after i finish the game its better then it was on release. they had a sick idea but the game is in such a mess and unfinished. but its still a fun game just not as much as it couldve been
I got the game when it came out but could not be bothered to write a review because my enthusiasm for it was declining as I was progressing along, this mind you, has nothing to do with bugs mind you, just the game itself.
I have hundreds of hours in this game at this point, mostly cause I like the city and visual aesthetic of the game, shooting is also pretty fun, having a wacky blade or godly hacker build can also be quite enjoyable.
That said, game itself is quite "mid" as the kids would say, even after tons of patches not everything is fixed, controls were clearly build for consoles, hacking means you scroll through your hacks with mouse wheel and have no shortcuts, so if your cursor moves from target by a pixel for a second you have to scroll through hacks again, things like grenades and implants that are not passive are abound to same key, you can only equip 3 weapons yet you can pause and change loadout at any time so not allowing us to bind them or other consumables makes no sense, there are variety of brands of food and drinks and none of them ever present any unique effects when consumed, weapon and clothes modification is dull and boring, clothing system was improved now that clothing stats are kinda meaningless unmodded but also did not introduce any interesting mods either, so it's barebones, cop system still sucks, street vendors completely underutilized, radio stations are filled with garbage like hip hop and rap even if station is supposed to be all about rock, we were promised selection of illegal implants in Pacifica as well as different authority other than NCPD governing it, we got neither yet they promised same things for Phantom Liberty, the most logical ending is hidden behind a dialogue option, life paths barely matter, V always sounds like a street rat no matter what path you take I could go on and on.
I always had realistic expectations of what it will be instead of hyping it sky high and even then it did not deliver experience promised.
No amount of QoL patches will ever make this game what was promised or could have been.
The atmosphere in Night City feels more like GTA:2077 than Cyberpunk, and is unimmersive throughout.
There will never be fleshed out "roles" besides solo and "netrunner" (which is less netrunner and more spellcaster), and lifepaths are a joke.
V will never be an interesting character, nor will it ever be possible to roleplay a unique V or personalize V's relationship with most characters/factions in any depth. Dialogue choices rarely provide satisfying variety in personality or opinions. The game rarely (if ever) accounts for or responds to V's beliefs, and V rarely expresses a belief beyond oafish comments for the likes of Silverhand to springboard off of. V's only concrete goal is survival, he has no fleshed out thematic conflicts. V is so boring that his presence often feels like an obstacle to the plot.
Core game mechanics are shallow. The factions are largely indistinguishable in combat, with few enemy types. The factions/gangs lack any sort of relationship mechanic. Character customization is disappointing, lacking cybernetics that even nameless npcs use, like robotic arms and legs. Without mods, creating outfits is painfully limited too.
The main quests are very short, and far too many main quests are nothing more than touching base with a character to recieve exposition. Most quests are so short that most of time it takes to complete them is spent travelling out of your way to find them, only to then have an unmemorable fight or chat.
Additionally, the game tries hard to sell itself as shades of grey (more like shades of black), but many quests do this in a contrived manner, where compex, underexplored moral dilemmas are reduced to a forced binary choice thirty seconds after they're introduced to the player.
The game remains a trite, shallow experience masquerading as a thoughtful, emotional one.
Good story so far but performance is a mess. Really blurry in general, you better play with a controller because with keyboard and mouse there is a lot of input lag and mouse acceleration.
