TLDR; Do not buy this game. Unless it was like $5 and you really wanted to see why is was so bad, save your money and time and play Baldur's Gate 3 or something.
I'll admit, I bought into the hype, thinking that I could really shape my own cyberpunk story. I was wrong.
I had a longer review going into detail but it was too long XD here's the top reasons not to buy;
1- Story is bad and boring
2- Little to no roleplaying whatsoever
3- All of the bugs
Great setting.
The parts of the world that are finished are great.
However many aspect about the world remain unfinished / appear rushed, hindering immersion.
Many technical flaws hinder immersion, too.
Balancing the game's mechanisms seems to have been neglected.
Some logical problems: V is portrayed as somewhat struggling to survive. Yet after a couple of jobs of what for her apparently is regular work, you have considerable money.
From rags to riches is not portrayed in a believable way.
Some side quests are great. One side quest that was particularly great (with Elizabeth and Jefferson Peralez) seemed to have been aborted prematurely. Something should have happened. But it did not.
Summa summarum:
The game is good. I liked to be in this world.
But the game should have been better. The potential to be a 9.8/10 +/- 1 game is there.
If you have the chance to make a product that will be remembered as outstanding - why rush it and waste it? I hope CD Project management has learned a lesson.
Was one of the games I was looking forward to the most. Luckily I'm not one to blindly pre-order games, which allowed me to bypass the fiasco at the beginning. After all this time and the advertised big update, I figured I'd go ahead and get it.... In hindsight, a bad decision. The key I have received elsewhere for a very reasonable price fortunately. But I don't understand all the fanboys who praise everything to the skies and seduce others to buy the unfinished game. It's still buggy, has crashes as well as so many glitches and who the hell came up with the idea to declare first-person as the best choice (after Witcher 3...). Just got it yesterday and I'm not satisfied at all. Currently, the story captivates me zero and the text-based choices are extremely simple. From far away it looks damn good, but unfortunately that's it. It had so much potential, and it was completely wasted. Maybe in 2023 it's finally on a good level, but I'm starting to doubt it. after i got kicked out due to a crash i will get up again later to continue playing. According to the further findings I will adjust the review, but when I look at other reviews I do not have much hope.
I really have to say that this was the last game from "CD Projekt" for me. They have to make up for that misery first, and that doesn't happen within a month.
The game's very impressive in many ways and as an open-world environment, as are graphics and overall style.
For lovers of good storytelling, I'd say this one doesn't disappoint. There're many HQ narrative cut scenes, as you progress in the story, which is quite catchy.
V's world is HUGE and there're many places to go, with a plethora of reasonably different and interesing side missions.
So what's not to enjoy? For the most part: uncaring game design and bugs - still.
Graphical glitches happen sometimes, e. g. with water, or floating NPC's, but well.
Probably worst of all is the key mapping system.
There're so many awkward and downright aggravating aspects/restrictions, about how you can't map some (but important) keys, as you need it, or you're forced to use a certain key for an action. This often prevents a fluid, intuitive experience for the game, while it offers and requires using many physical and virtual (cyber) actions. So, you may have a hard time making full use of them (I do):
You can't map "KP_ENTER" at all, so 10-key is basically broken.
For the most part, context-dependent double mappings aren't allowed, but different keys for similar actions in different contexts can be enforced (exit may require ESC or backspace), where actually ENTER or same key should do. Pick up body needs key "R", drop it "Q" (blocks other use) and so on. It's a horrible mess, that may or may not work for some "WASD" or controller users.
There're only 2 quick-use slots, e.g. 1 for heal, 1 for grenade OR cyber-implant (blocks MOUSE_5). No sense, no fun.
The hard-earned, scarce perk points often only bring tiny advantages. The conversation system is unchallenging. There's an abundance of clothing items and guns, but a serious lack of storage and an inconclusive system of item attributes and upgrades.
Removing gun mods won't propagate to the UI. Task switch breaks the display. A crash and other bugs here and there.
Try it, if you can flip ~50 bucks for beta software.
Cyberpunk 2.0 is Frustating as Hell!
Jonny Dies again and again in "Never Fade Away chase Part Mission" and this is just one Part, where i have to decrass the Difficulty and Controls to Auto Aim. Im lvl 25 Again and im pissed now how boring some Fights now are until this Point of Gameplay. The Stupid Cap of Cyberware or how useless many Parts are.
Some Enemys just eat my Bullets from Shotguns or Rifles in Meele Range but kill me with two Fists.
The new Skill System is Horrible for me. It dont feels like i had a Choice or the Skills realy have impact to my Gameplay. I buyed the DLC but never Touched it, because i wanna play into it but now...i hope get the Money Back for it. 30Bucks for 10more strange Level ups and usless Skills....
Hacking, Shooting both are terrible. If i watch a Guide, they Run with Pistols only or with a Knife, brailess hack and Slash between lots of Enemys. In Higher Difficulty i get three Shoots and Dead with a lots of "Armor" and i picked the Stupid " you can carry more for each Skill you have invest 9 Skill Points shit".
The dash is...wow...im so Frustrated that i cant Explain this useless "Walk faster" Skill. Sure the "Dash" works great vs one Enemy - sometimes. Thats not a Roughlike game or it is?
I like it hard and if the Enemy use Grenades or Weapons like me. But they hit me in full Cover and the Enemy do damage with 5 Bullets where i have to use a Milllion Bullets. And the Enemy not have Cyberware installed like i have. They sometimes "Naked"...
Hacking... take something what you like and put it into the Toilet. Thats the way how if feels in Cyberpunk now.
Bevore 2.0 i was Shooting here and there, little bit Hacking and use one Gun after a Gun. Sometimes i was Stealthy for a Mission. But now....
I Hate every Weapon i get. I wanna throw out of the Window every meele Weapon i find. I wanna kill Judy and myselft just because i dont wanna play this kind of "Cyberpullshit" game anymore...
