Woke up and remembered it was out now thought i'd give it a quick go.
Running 3440x1440 at the max settings (blur off) and it looks amazing... Halfway the training stuff and it feels good and runs well.
+It looks amazing, the world looks/feels alive.
+Creating your character hasn't been this detailed for quite some time.
Hope they can keep up the quality as they did with Witcher 3!
Lets be honest the game is literally F****** cool as S***. even with the bugs and glitches. IDK why anyone would complain. be glad it finally came out and there are trying to fix it. what game doesnt come out with bugs and even game breaking bugs. Keep up the good work CD Project, i loved the witcher series. I know this game will be just a good once its up to full capacity.
My actual rating would be closer to 4.5 so the closest to that was 5 and not 4 stars. I will keep things short:
The hate CDPR got from the technical issues were absolutely justified. But now on PC the major issues seem pretty much fixed. I had only a few glitches in my whole playthrough and at no point did those glitches interfered with my enjoyment. Performance is vety meh but adequate with no issues.
And the game itself. It is great. It is a master peice? No but it is great. The world, the quests, the characters and story are stellar. Just excellent. Just make sure you do all the sidequests. Some are as important or even more than the main missions. Do not do the mistake of doing the main missions only. You will be missing whole character arcs. When you have finished all, the story ends up somthing really memorable (i even liked V and Silverhand that many people had issues with).
The main issues with the game is the gameplay systems. They are fully functional, they never get into the way of enjoyment. But many things like the skill trees and crafting are superficial and uninspiring. There is little depth in character builds and gearing. But again at worse they are uninteresting. Very rarely are the gameplay systems "bad".
Do not fall into the badwagoning saying that the game is not trash or other exagerations. The game itself is very very good. If you think you will like it go for it. You will enjoy your time. And if you are still on the fence? I suggest the Skill up review that is increadibly detailed. I found it matches my own experience almost to the letter. The good and the bad. Too bad CDPR botched the launch that much. This gave a reputation to a game that in its heart, it is really worth it.
The good. The story and the characters are the true highlight of this game. The story is engaging and after the intro it drags you on until the very end. Some complain that the story puts too much pressure on the player and distracts from exploring the Night City, but I think this is not a bad thing - you are supposed to feel the pressure in the situation the main character got into. And it should be noted that you aren't on a real time limit either, you can explore the city as long as you wish to.
The characters are authentic and well written, especially Johnny. They truly grew on me, and I found myself deeply caring for them towards the end. Most of the side characters that appear in side quests are not simple dummies either, they have a background that you uncover through dialogs and texts found throughout the game. Some appear in the final credits to indicate the results of your choices.
The bad. The common sentiment is that the game feels incomplete and lacking in content, balancing and polish. Lots of bugs in this game, and they are still present in version 1.23, 8 months after release. Luckily, most of them aren't fatal. Large sections of the city are empty, as if the devs didn't have the time to fill them with content.
There is a single hacking minigame, which you will be doing a lot. Brawling is completely broken - the hitboxes are insane, evading is next impossible. There aren't many weapons and their leveling is arbitrary. Character skill tree has many useless skills and not too many interesting ones. Crafting is pointless since you find a lot of good stuff in the world.
Bottom line, even with my complaints above, I feel that a lot of bad reputation this game gets is overrated. Yes, the downsides are real, but when I ask myself if I liked the game, the answer is a definite yes. I enjoyed the story and characters and that overweighted all the downsides for me. If you are also looking for a good dystopian cyberpunk story then this game is for you.
Story, garphics and gameplay were fantastic and I must say, it was much better than I thought it would be. Luckily I purchased this game after the recent patches and thus I didn't run into as many bugs as people in the past ran into. However, though the game in its current state is playable and I ran into no game breaking bugs, there are still many bugs and some of them are annoying. Such as having to angle yourself a certain way in order to pick up certain items or angle your camera slightly off a target in order to properly scan it. Things like this were very annoying after encountering them more than I would have liked, but again the gameplay and story were so fun that I could look past all this and still enjoy the game. Then again, idk maybe I was just lucky too in not encountering the worst bugs that may still exist.
One thing I did not like however, were that though I enjoyed many of the side quests, there were many that had, just in my opinion, way too much dialogue and boring objectives. This really bogged the game down for me, especially when I was in my last 10 hours or so of playing it. I had just gone through many fun and well balanced (in the sense of action and story) main missions that then going into these slow and sometimes boring side quests made me just wanna complete the final quest already and put the game to rest. I even skipped a few side missions in the end, because I just didn't have the patience for how boring they could be, despite enjoying the story behind them. But that's just me and you may enjoy that kind of stuff.
All in all, if you are not too picky about bugs and enjoy cyberpunk themes and FPS/open world games then there is a good chance you will love it as much as I did.
