You are a blockchain security expert doing bounties jobs in the early days of Bitcoin. When hacking activities begin to surge, you sense a looming threat trying to bring down the entire crypto space. As you interact with other forum users, read terminal chats and message board, you slowly piece together a big conspiracy. At the same time, the people behind it arez also on to your true identity, something you have been trying to keep as a secret.
Rise of cryptocurrencies
Crypto: Against All Odds explores the rise of crypto culture by fusing blockchain security concepts into a stylish, tactical tower defense gameplay. Discover the world of cryptocurrencies while battling against bugs, hackers, ransomware and other deadly cybersecurity attacks. Tip: Keep calm and HODL the line.
Roleplay as a Security Expert
Take the role of a cybersecurity expert. Visit a virtual forum, take on bounties jobs, read terminal chat messages and uncover a huge conspiracy in the crypto space.
Side activities
Between missions, player can partake in various activities: chat with your crypto squad, trade cryptocurrencies, play arcade mini games, read inbox messages from strangers and use your wit to determine an action. Choices have consequences.
Squad customization
Whether you want to slow down enemies with a plasma beam, blast them in an explosion, or teleport your crypto around, there will be a unit to cover your tactical need. Explore different synergies by combining crypto units with various supporting powers, from zapping a single bug to calling airstrikes.
Base building
Visit and upgrade your central Hub between missions. Each Hub upgrade is not only cosmetic, but will grant additional features or even introduce an entirely new game mode!
On principle, this is a game without any. By beating the drum of environmental destruction, technical incompetence, and pyramid schemes, this praise of cryptocurrency as "haha funny memes" is but the furthest thing from funny.
Being nothing but a bland tower defence game with a visually hostile interface (hope you like the color blue), be in shock and surprise when the last notice from the developers was from 2021!
There's nothing to note about the game. It's a visually bland clone of PvZ at a weird angle. You could literally retheme the game with any skin and it'd still fall into the morass of unremarkable tower defence games. I've got several questions for why GOG approved the sale of this game in the first place, and why it remains on sale to this day.
Cryptocurrency has all kinds of problems, but as game premise it actually has potential.
It has drama, (mostly dark) humor, and "magical" math/behavior.
That potential is entirely wasted here.
