As reductive as it sounds, when it comes to delivering a classic survival horror experience, Crow Country is a good “one of those.” Familiar elements and tropes are well executed, and the succinct runtime of five to six hours is perfect for its smaller scope. I had fun reliving the genre’s golden years through Crow Country’s eyes; playing it feels like relaxing under a warm, blood-stained blanket.

Balancing out

This game is a fantastic homage to survival horror greats from the PS1 era. It's short, sweet and has an incredible soundtrack. Every moment of this game felt so unique while making sure to feel juuust reminiscent enough of the greats of old. Mara is a great protagonist and I can't imagine anyone pretending that she is there for "political" reasons. Just trust that this game is great, it runs on anything and if you like Resident Evil or Silent Hill you will not be disappointed!

Didn’t expect to like it as much as I do

Great little title I wasn’t even aware of until literal minutes before purchase. Love the look and gameplay. Enemies are a bit bullet spongy at times but the game is pretty forgiving with ammo. If you like a retro feel to your games it really hits home.

Great Throwback for a Good Time

I wasn't alive for the 90's survival horror era of Resident Evil or Dino Crisis, but this evokes the spirit so well it reminds me of them all the same, I especially appreciate the option for both modern and classic tank controls, and both work great for this game's combat. Sure, it's bit-sized, but I got more than my money's worth with the charm and potential for multiple playthroughs to see everything. I had heaps of fun with Crow Country from start to finish, and anyone asks, avoid the pool as best you can. :D

Modern homage to classic survival horror

(copied from my Steam review) Fantastic game that finds the right balance in a lot of things. If you like old survival horror, be sure to check it out. The opening didn't pull me in at first, but it just kept getting better and better the further I went. The story is interesting and coherent (for a survival horror). Tension, pressure, combat, enemy variety, scarcity of resources seemed just spot on (was playing on Hard difficulty). It's not long, but that's a plus - it doesn't drag on and you can replay it if you need more. Pretty much the only thing I would change is adding more branching outcomes based on your choices.
