Clear the sand from your weapon and keep out of sight. You are officially in the middle of the most heart-stopping, realistic, tactical action experience ever created! Battle your way through the Gulf War as one of the elite U.S. Delta Force or British SAS operators. From the in-depth artificial intelligence of your enemies to the amazingly realistic environments, this one's got it all. Welcome to Desert Storm!
Conflict: Desert Storm is a first/third-person shooter that features modern military operations. You take control of a four-man squad: sniper, rifleman, demolitions expert, and heavy weapons expert. You must use their abilities wisely either by giving them orders or assuming direct control. In addition to that there is an excellent multiplayer mode in which you can challenge your friends on numerous maps and gameplay modes. This game is an excellent choice for someone looking for a solid military shooter with strong tactical elements.
Join up to 7 friends in multiplayer mode and fight through many available modes including deathmatch, team deathmatch, assassination, and more.
Develop your squad through each mission, increasing their combat abilities.
Detailed and realistic missions designed by a former SAS officer are as fun as they are informative.
I remember this game on PS2. My buddy and I enjoyed it because it had splitscreen coop and a good amount of content. It wasn't a bad game but I remember it nothing too great. Its not a bad play. If you can get a buddy and want to waste a couple hours. This is a good candidate for it.
I originally bought this game from a k-mart for my Windows Me PC. I used to play this game with friends Co-Op on the GameCube and it was a lot of fun. Expect it to be clunky and fairly easy to wade through endless waves of enemies. It is fun because the levels are large and let you tackle problems your own way. People expecting an epic HALO or COD story will be disappointed. "On me, on me"!
Enjoy.
The main reason I picked up this game was nostalgia, I played the first mission over and over on a Demo CD for PS2.
Once I got past the first mission, I started to realize that the game hasn't aged well.
It's clunky, the aim is not responsive, the menu is not intuitive I was starting to rage on this game.
But then I sort of began to push trough and was starting to feel real acomplisment when a mission ended.
You have to consider that this is a pioneer of the genre, it lacks polish, but it has fun objectives and I really love switiching between characters. If you can find a buddy to play in co-op it´s even better!
I hate/love the fact that you can only save 2 times during a mission, it makes things much more challenging and puts you on edge, specially if you're trying to go without sounding the alarm.
Even the silly story is engaging, and with a great payoff.
I ended the game with a nice feeling of accomplishement, I recommend it to someone who likes tactical shooters and doesn't mind a little masochism.
( I also had a bug that makes a character get stuck in the air, I finished the game without solving the problem, just with lots of patience and stubbornness, but don't do it like me, visit the forum, there are some solutions for this bug.)
Basically you control 4 soldiers through various missions, kind of like SOCOM I guess but I never played SOCOM. I loved this when I was a kid because it was like playing with the toy army men. You can put each of your team where you want and tell them what to do, etc and you can control each of them yourself. You can get pretty methodical with it and the level design accommodates for the control you have. There are a lot of open levels that allow you to choose which objectives to do and there are many situations that will depend on the positioning of your men.
I think it has co-op but I always played by myself. It's a bit clunky by today's standards but I'd say pick it up for $2. The second one is great too. Not a fan of Vietnam and I haven't played Global Terror but I highly recommend the Desert Storm series.
