Earned in Blood is the best game in the Brothers In Arms series by far. It has far more engagement and tactical thinking than either of the other games in the series, and although challenging is not unfair to the player.
Very underrated . RTH.30 and EIB is a distinguished series in all styles WWII games . At that day , we have not FPS games more authentic compared with BIA . And in this day , we do not have WWII games compared to BIA , which take youself get through not merely battlefield but the heart and soul facing the war . Nowadays , we do not have any title outstanding like , not any more .
Played this game on normal difficulty until mission 5 with a lot of rage attacks. In the first awful tank mission I gave up and started again on easy difficulty with fewer rage attacks. The tank mission remains awful, too.
The atmosphere of the game is awesome. Graphics and sound system are very nice. The game has cool weather effects like rain, well done vegetation or ruined cities environment.
It really feels like fighting in a war as an infanteryman. I know, it is hard to survive, but what the hell is the target group of this difficulty level? People who only play one game in life? The problem is the bad ai of friendly soldiers in the game, which is dull. On the one hand side you have to babysit them each meter and on the other hand side you have to overrun hundreds of german forces. Often they ignore orders and run directly into enemy fire and then the whole mission success is gone and you have to repeat the same mission. You can't save when you want and the savepoints are very seldom and set unfair.
At last the game was hard on easy, but I couldn't stop playing to the end titles. I wouldn't try it on harder difficulty. I found the battle overview map horrible without being able to have an overview.
Excellent game with an amazing atmosphere, dull a.i., gore difficulty and bad savepoints.
The best episode in the series, I should say. An authentic representation of real war and being a leader in combat. Great battle areas with some space to manouevre, so the linear structure does not feel so tight. The enemies are active providing a real challenge at times. We can ask for ammo from the buddies, we get more grenades than earlier, and we can use German panzerfausts against armour. If a situation is too risky, if we lose too many men, no probs, the software will offer "recharging" or "reviving" our squad to make it easier for us. The command system is still quite simple and the graphics could be better as well... Audio is sometimes missing, other times it is OK.
A recommended one. Period.
The game itself is great.
There is one issue though however.
I've got a Radeon R9 390 and all i seem to see when playing the game is bright colour changing textures on the objects. Its really annoying as a grey brick wall is now bright pink and changes colours constantly.
Please can you look into this :-)
