I hoped for a better game than this

This game is visually stunning and funny. The plot has an intriguing concept, with whimsy to spare, but sadly the two main characters never show any growth, and barely interact with each other. The puzzles are mostly simplistic, aside from a few tedious and needlessly frustrating ones in Act 2. The fact that I decided to rather watch the last thirty minutes or so of the game online says a lot about the poor design of those parts. Overall, a decent adventure game for those who can tolerate tedious, random puzzles (and some occasionally awful voice acting).

Beautiful graphics, funny moments

DoubleFine did a great job on building this game. The graphics look is unique and beautiful, the characters are interesting, and I like the plot. This is a modern adventure game, like many of the Telltale games, in the sense that it does not involve a lot of frustrating pixel hunting, or inscrutable puzzles, or twisty mazes all alike. Instead, for the most part, the puzzles are well integrated into the story, and there are very few red herrings. The plot dialog, if you listen carefully, gives lots of hints to reduce frustration. A consequence is that the game is short, which I actually prefer because I only have limited time to play these games. I was a Kickstarter backer and I think it was worth my investment to get a game with this quality.

Worth it!

The reviews made my bit afraid of the game. Yet I have to say it was around 11 hours of fun for me:) The game recalled the memories of such games like Goblins with abstract and colorful locations (village in the cloud, missions on the spaceship, maiden feast). Most of the puzzles were easy, still item offered to not correct person result with some good dialog. The hard puzzles were on the well designed level -- interesting but not frustrating. I can honestly say the story was good (not great). Definitely worth playing it.

Its only mistake was the 2-part release

This has to stop. Do not support games broken down to various parts. You saw what happened here, and I hope Tim has learned from the experience. The game is gorgeous in its true form, as a WHOLE adventure game, with a nice, ascending difficulty curve, and progressively unraveling plot. With its modern aesthetic and yet old-school feeling, capturing the essence of classic-era adventures (without resorting to cheap tricks like pixelated graphics or interface rip-offs), and bringing them to today. By all means, buy it, especially if it is anywhere below 10-15 $ (I'm sorry, an old timer like me won't give 20 bucks for any game that has no physical box and goodies)
