"I wanted a mission, and for my sins, they gave me this game."
It all started with the game's inability to launch. I searched the forums for answers before I could even begin my penance.
When that was sorted I found that personalising my squad was not up to me but the caprices of the game. Clicking a portrait was no guarantee the character would change appearance accordingly, only re-naming worked.
Tutorial instructions taunted me during my use of this dismal abomination for none of the actions it was teaching me could be taken due to most keys not responding (instructions, by the way, couldn't be dismissed, so I constantly had a frozen alert on the corner of the screen mocking my impotence). My team of veterans never followed their leader, pressing the pre-determined key never made them re-group nor allowed me to select a different squad member. Movement worked but besides that only 2 keys were usable during this sad period, "Escape" and "E" (to use things). Luckily "E" was all I needed to open the closed door a few steps beyond the spot I first spawned. Except that doing so freezed the game... ALWAYS... and my only option out was to force-quit.
I eventually skipped the unusable tutorial and went directly to the main missions where things TRULY got silly. Zombies hungered for empty bins, police fences, plant pots and all manner of random debris, and they attacked those game doodads with unquenchable lethargy. The hungry undead tried in vain to devour iron gates and street lamps, scraping the cliche that they only like brains, while my military team slowly chipped at their health bars from behind the cover and safety of unfathomably bad enemy A.I.
The tactial view, where I could issue complex orders to the team, was made purposeless by the keys to confirm actions that refused to work.
The end came not in the form of a viral outbreak but a pathetic game-freeze when I tried to save for the very first time.
The only way out of this apocalyptic nightmare is a refund.
