You are a mercenary possessed by a flame demon in a desperate world ravaged by seven Ice Lords and their Dead-Army.
In this RPG where all your choices lead to consequences, you will have to choose between unleashing the powers of the beast within and rejecting the demonic influence that wants to claim your humanity.
Freely develop your abilities and combat style through three skill trees: swing the heavy weapons of the Fighter, wield the sneaky dual daggers of the Ranger, or use the devastating flame spells of the Pyromancer.
Recruit companions who will live, love, hate and fight alongside you against the dreadful creatures of Vertiel, in real-time epic battles based on tactics and reaction.
The bigger the danger, the greater the temptation to draw on the demon’s power at the cost of your soul… which way will YOU choose?
I was a little nervous seeing everyone having problems with language, but it installed and ran perfectly in English. Didn't have to do anything, maybe they fixed it already. I only played a little so far and am really enjoying Bound by Flame. Highly recommended.
So I got this when it released at £2.99, and for that its a pretty average game. Graphics are ok, though lots of juddering with clipping. Combat is ok, the swamp level seemed particularly hard compared to the rest of the game. Story is pretty bad, so are the character scripts. The game forces you to take companions for certain quests and at certain storypoint times. This is highly annoying, and the pathfinding for them can be bad. I found that as a ranger, after video interludes it would leave me with sword drawn (as that is what the video shows), hence losing me valuable time redrawing. Also, the sword on the back was annoying as never used. Enemies look nice enough, though there is very little equipment/upgrades. Skills were also a bit meh, some I didn't work out at all like the top tier ranger skill, what does that even do?? I also noted that flame sword only worked in combination with sword, so ranger is nerfed. Ending is silly multi stage battle which after having to reload several times gets very annoying very quickly as you have to re-do the whole thing. So as a cheap game to spend a few hours on its ok, however there is no depth, replayability here so only get it if its cheap and you have nothing better.
I've always had an eye on this one and when it got released with a nice 75% launch discount I thought I could finally give this a try. Only played a couple of minutes now, but I am quite disappointed, to be honest. I know you have to keep your expectations in check when it comes to such relatively low budget productions, but this really feels and looks like a cheap game, even considering its age. I wanted to like this, but there are so many good games out there that spending valuable gaming time with it feels like a waste.
Give it a chance when you're in dire need of a 3rd person RPG fix and have absolutely nothing else to check out. Apart from that, there are way better options. I'd much rather start the umpteenth playthrough of TES Oblivion or finally start Dragon's Dogma (to name just two better alternatives here on the platform) than play this any further.
