What if we had Diablo 1 from an alternate universe where you can't move freely, but in a set path and your skills/equipment were cards?
Well, we don't have to imagine because here it is, as stated, is a hack and slash dungeon crawler, you caa "attune" to some cards, reducing your mana pool, but gaining useful passive effects, cards come in different qualities which add extra effects and they can be upgraded too to get even more out of them, play your hand wisely and you can have some nice card synergies that can clean a room of enemies in no time, enemies come in diofferent flavors and with different "heart" types that effecrively work like elemental resistances, they can also come with physical or magical shields and have their own skills, and bosses can eb tricky since they actually phse and use different skills or change resistances, I played the three classes, but the mage was the one I liked the most.
Of course it has some flaws,, the most glaring one is that enemies are not bound to the path like you are, making dodging them really difficult, is good to have a pushc skill at hand so you can clear the path atnd retreat if needed.
Also, some of the levels are idiotic, like big rooms full of enemies but you have to move through corners and crossroads in your path, sometimes your character loses their mind and starts jerking against a corner because a movement key moves you in 1 axis or the other depending on the camera angle. And on top of that ranged enemies can attack you long before they get in your attacking range, this is incredibly frsutrating given the previously mentioned long winding roads put in some rooms, and it gets worse when they teleport when you get close enough to attack them.
So yeah, there are some things that are absolute bullshit in this game. But I'm not gonna lie , I had a lot of fun, the more you go the more powerful you get and by the time you get to the last boss you'll be killing enemies by the dozens.
