What a horrible morning to have to work.
From what little I've played of Bloodstained so far I can easily see the "homage" to the Castlevania franchise with the near lawsuit level of similarity in music to that of Lament of Innocence, Portrait of Ruin, and Aria of Sorrow. It also carries over the soul system from the Sorrow series(with much to my relief not carrying over the soul rarity rate from Dawn) and the multidirectional attack and technique system from Symphony of night all the while refining the combat to have more rapid animations thus allowing for faster attacks, though not as fast as combod weapons from Order of Ecclesia. Also making a return are the quests from Portrait and possible the villagers from OOE though I’m not far enough to be certain. The inclusion of having some equipment appear on your character is also a nice touch. One issue I have with the game would be the inclusion of the Kickstarter portraits in the castle as they stand out like sore thumbs as compared to the rest of the castle’s interior; though it was a reward so that is not going to change, aside that it seems very forgiving with the leveling system as it seems that levels are given out like candy though the stat increases don’t seem to amount to much so it might balance itself out. All in all I’m liking it so far, though I will have to give it a full review at a later time as I decided to get up early to play it before going to work, Hopefully this will wake up Konami from their Pachinko riddled coma to give us another installment in the Castlevania franchise.
