Good Start to a Great Series

I bought this elsewhere, expecting another Street Fighter, and was put off by the differences and unique mechanics that I was too lazy to learn. After shelving it for a few years, I gave it another shot after some advice from other players and found out I'd been missing out on a very good fighting game with a fascinating story and characters I've since grown to care about. There is definitely a steeper learning curve here than Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat, but after getting the hang of how this game stands apart from its roots, I can definitely recommend it to old school fighting game fans. If you don't mind learning a different style of fighting game, the action and story are pretty rewarding. The series gets better with each iteration, so I hope it gains traction here on GOG. Exemplary game of its kind, and a series worth getting into. I have to give it 3 stars instead of 4, because I think while the removal of Games for Windows Live from the game is good news, this is the second time I've seen this game released with no alternative form of online play implemented. I hope something will be done to rectify that with this title or at least the sequels, if they ever show up here.

Not Your Usual Fighter

I am quite new to BlazBlue and I am an old fan of fighting games. I have plenty of hours in Street Fighter, Tekken, and Mortal Kombat to name a few. After searching the entire store, looking for something entirely new, this game caught my eye at first, I didn't give it much of a thought but somehow bought it anyway since it was cheap. Then I launched the game had the fps locked at 30 so it was already giving me a bad impression, but I searched the internet. It turns out the game has a weird bug that locks it that way but once you restart your computer it goes back at being 60 fps. Well, I tried and restarted now getting consistent 60 fps no matter how many times I launch the game so it's a weird bug. First thing I want to say as a veteran of fighting games I did not buy this game for its story I was merely interested in its combat system and boy I was not disappointed let me explain but first let’s get the other stuff out of the way. The graphics are a sight to see well animated and beautiful along with great music score. The story can't say much about I somewhat followed it but skipped most of it it's seem ok. Now for the actual gameplay, where to start this game has characters who are distinct from one another in short, each character is a system you must learn. That is why I think some casual fans or button mashers might not find this game interesting or fun to play but each character has its own difficulty level. For that I personally recommend Jin. I also encourage you to read the manual because this is where the game feels short of a proper tutorial but thankfully there's training for you to try things out. You can pause the game see command list but there's more for you to discover like the different blocking system mentioned in the manual download it from 'Extras'. Lastly the controller support is there. I have a Xbox One S controller it works just fine although this game works surprisingly well with keyboard except for some combos but still doable.

Favourite fighting game

I still remember buying this one for GFWL a few years ago, I remember it costing something like 2 or 3 euros, what steal it was. It's a great fighting game, with a huge amount of content, a story mode that's much better than any other fighting game I've played, playing much like a visual novel, which fits the aesthetic very well. It's a shame it doesn't have multiplayer anymore, as far as I'm aware, so I'll have to fault it for that. Still, the single player content alone is already worth a buy.

Great anime fighting game

If you are into fighting games, you will probably like this one. It has everything you can ask for a good 2D fighting game. Cool looking characters, quite different one from each other, both in terms of aesthetic and techniques. Good looking HD graphics, great performance (I get solid 60 fps in a laptop with an intel HD 4000), great animations, nice intros. blah blah. Just about everything you can ask for. If you like fighting games with anime characters, and you are tired of low resolution graphics and you want HD... you can't go wrong with this one.

Good Game, Bad AI

Game has good music, good characters, interesting game-play... but completely broken AI during some fights. After 20-30 minutes of play it is common to get brick-walled by broken AI. It ruins the fun, and the experience.
