my 5 star rating is for the original scumm vm version and i hope gog will kick a few bucks from each sale of the enhanced edition their way since the only way to get the scumm vm version is to buy the enhanced edition but i also feel that night dive will address and also fix all the bugs just give them a little time
The good: I can now play on the couch with a gamepad and my 35" TV.
The bad: Pretty much everything else.
This games history and licensing is even more convoluted than NOLF. And the Nightdive skin isn't quite horrible. It does allow for couch-play, if nothing else. UI is more functional, but uglier. Weird audio glitches. Graphics are a mixed bag. Some better, some not.
If you own the SCUMMVM 2019 version, there is no reason to upgrade, except if you crave couch-play.
If you don't? What's WRONG with you?
of being lazy cash-grabbers with no respect for the original artists, the people involved in making it work on modern systems, the game itself and the public.
My original 1 star review has been deleted for stating the facts, and I see I'm not the only one. I'm done with GOG.
After the onslaught of bad reviews for the EE on Steam, the publisher decided to include the original version for free with the purchase of the EE.
Case closed! Hopefully updates will also improve the EE. But as of right now we can say that buying the Original version for pretty much the same price it has always been sold, will give you a free copy of the Beta version of the Enhanced Edition. :)
Please stop the hate now :)
Quick cred establishement- I played this game on release, I played also daggerfall, Eye of the beholder and even a goddamn hobbit. Point is...I am old, so do not cite the old laws to me, I was there when they were written!
This is a very good game (for more information check out reviews of the original game, this may very well be the best point and click in history and at least for me, this is a PROPER sequel to blade runner) and as an enhanced version it is quite decent, good entry place for new players who want to check what the hell this ancient game is about and why are all the old guys sing praises to it.
Low ratings mostly stem from people who just dislike their favourite game to be changed in any way, and I get it, I really do, but we still have the original while the enhanced edition is mostly made to entice new people. It is a bit like a thing with Daggerfall Unity edition where a lot of old fans feel that new version does not have the same climate etc.
If you are a new player don't be afraid of it and buy enhanced edition.
If you are a veteran...let's be honest, you already own it on disk, classic edition on GoG and probably another copy just to be safe... you are not the prime target for it.
