Great Game, Crappy Port

Random crashes all over the place and framepacing is horrible. You need a third-party software like borderless gaming to get rid of it. The crashes, on the other hand, stay. This Bioshock is the same as the steam version which is plagued with random crashes and by now everyone should know that it's the developer's fault. They just won't patch it and they probably never will. The game itsself is awesome, even better than the first Bioshock but this port is just unacceptable. I recommend waiting for the release of the classic version (which runs flawlessly) and steer away from this one until then.

Crashes a lot, then crashes forever...

This is my forst ever written review of a game here on GOG, after being registered for years with 115 games in my account. I´m doing this because I´m apalled at the mistreatment customers are getting lately here on GOG. I´ve started playing right after buying Bioshock 1 and 2 Remastered. I owned these games when they were released in the past, so the idea of replaying a remastered version sounded very good to me. Downloaded B2 and in the midst of some crashes during gameplay I kept on playing, mainly because of the improved graphics. After 5hrs of play time (game stage: Dionysus Park) the game finally crashed "forever" with a message that the savegames list couldn´t be loaded. Exited, tried to repair the installation via this option in GOG Galaxy but to no avail. Tried uninstalling it and perform a fresh install too. Nothing. From then on it just starts, goes over to the intro with the 2K logo and crashes there. I´ve seen A LOT of people complaining in the GOG forum but to this date (31st January 2019) GOG staff is quiet, dead quiet about this. Stay away from these two until a patch is made, or just wait to see IF GOG includes the classic versions too, STEAM already did so I´m feeling very tempted buying from them instead.

Wait for the classic release

This game crashes. A lot. The frequency of the crashes even increases as the game progresses, making the game very hard to finish. Don't buy this broken mess. Wait for the release of the classic game that the publisher promised 'at a later date'. The game itself is very good. Even better than the first. A tense atmosphere, an intriguing story and choices that affect the story. But this 'enhanced' version is just not enjoyable. I suggest to postpone giving money the the devs that broke the game to 'a later date', when they fulfill their promise to release the working classic version.

The best one in the series, IMHO.

In my opinion, Bioshock 2 is the best one in the series. (Steam review) Greatly improves and optimises all the gameplay elements from the first Bioshock. Has the strong emotional and solid writing from Infinite - without getting lost up its own a$$. Shows you a side of rapture which feels fresh enough to distinguish itself from the first one. The only downside to Bioshock 2 is that I cannot recommend it without first playing, or having some good knowledge on Bioshock 1 - the way Bioshock 2 is written feels like it takes for granted that the player has played the first one, unlike Infinite that can be enjoyed as a stand-alone. Personal opinion - that does not count for the review, Bioshock 2 is definitely in my top 10 FPS games list.
