This game has been an absolute blast. This game surprised me a lot. Never mind what some reviews says and dive into this one. The game is massive and you can do so many things... its amazing how much they packed in here. Take your time don't rush and just enjoy the game. I gave it a 4/5 because the one aspect that's actually not all that well is the sound mixing. I don't know what happened there but you'll need to tweak the sound levels and crank up your speakers/TV volume so you can get somewhat decent sound levels.. On that note once you get passed characters speaking gibberish, you'll enjoy the game for what it is. I absolutely love this game despite that!
This is my first review for any game on GOG. I enjoy unique gaming experiences, full of depth and filled with immersion. Over the years, I have experienced far too many titles too keep count of, but the true gems have always been found when digging through the dirt. Beautiful titles that invoke deeper feelings, whatever direction they may take, such as Rain World, Hyper Light Drifter, Noita, Fez, Transistor, Outward, and Hollow Knight.
Reviews that came out for Biomutant are shocking. The level of critical words used against this title feels shortsighted. After spending some time reading other player experiences with Biomutant and finally giving it a chance myself, I cannot disagree with reviewers more.
Biomutant can only be described as full of Heart. You can feel the passion that this group of individuals has put into every part of this beautiful world. Some have described the atmosphere as childish, which is reaching, in my opinion. The feeling the world gives is much more akin to the original Fable, mixing humor with undertones of despair. From near the very start, a village is destroyed, littered with the bodies of the recently deceased. This is on top of a bright and cheery world with uplifting ambient music. The feeling of division between a happy fairy tale world and war-torn country are meshed perfectly.
Many complaints mentioned the combat, which I found confusing. I am playing Biomutant on hard mode, as a melee-focused Psy Freak. Combat has been enjoyable and challenging against larger foes. Mixing Psy Powers, Melee, Wung Fu Special Moves, and Guns during combat leads to varied combat encounters. Mixed with the huge amount of crafting available, the possibilities are massive.
I have only just begun my adventure into Biomutant's large, beautiful world, but I can already feel the Love and Devotion oozing from each hazard filled inch its map, and every wind-swept hair on the furry mutants surviving within it.
Don't Trust Scores, Try it for Yourself.
While i can see why some would dislike it, its probably cause they focused on the main quests purely.
When its entirely possible to get totally sidetracked and end up way off course for the main store and experience a rather fun exploration if a diverse world. Yes it is a bit small considering the trailer made it seem like you could go into a snow area, this still in, but just not as big as one would imagine, Its quite a walk but rather small and considered a extreme zone whereby you need some resistance via clothes or other. This applies to other non-green zones too.
Combat was frustrating at first but once you get the hang of it, it starts to open up and seem fun.
Though i can understand why some hate the left click for Guns and right Click for Sword actions.
Its meant to switch quickly been both styles and chain up special moves for a quick finisher type of Kung-Fu style fight. Not sure if i describe it right, but it feels well done, even on hard Difficulty its rather fun, but if you just play and never focus on upgrading your gear, your going to have a hard time and hate it like the press, i suppose. Overall its really good and even has a New Game+.
Almost feels like DMC (combat, but easier to get into but high skill ceiling? to chain special attacks) and Skyrim (world) in a way. If you play Kajit and everything is Kajit.
fyi, your not missing out if you don't have the Mercenary (preorder) DLC, its only 6mb of content. And its easy to do similar style of fighting as any of the other class, once you unlock the dual wield skill.
