Tactical Stompy Goodness
A fairly faithful translation of the tabletop game. The base game works as a great introductory, and the great mod trio (BTA3062, RogueTech, and BEX) add a near paralytic amount of variety and replayability, include competition between play merc companies through RogueTech's online map. If you like turn-based tactical games like X-Com, Midnight Suns, or Shadowrun, this is a must-play.

Flawed, but worthwhile
First, the bad news: it runs very slowly. The AI seems to be confused about what it should be doing tactically at times. Finally, the mission difficulty ratings need some fine tuning as well. On the other hand, if you enjoy the tabletop game, you should enjoy this. Improving your lance and warriors is an excellent time sink.

Tactical gaming at it's fineist
Having been a fan of the Battletech universe since the original Mechwarrior, this game is very attractive. You get to manage a career for your company from finances to mechwarriors to the loadout of your mechs. But the fun is in the tactical combat. You select your mechs based on the type of mission and then navigate the terrain to your advantage. Some missions are harder than others (looking at you defend base!), but that is why the tactics are different for each mission. Highly recommend. And while the game is a bit older, that just means it runs smooth as butter for our newer rigs!
