Battle Isle Platinium is pure strategy combined with a compelling backstory. Consisting of the first four installments of the series, it offers the opportunity to play and experience a huge chunk of Battle Isle history, from the very beginnings on up to the events on Scayra, the colonial planet of Chromos – a planet so distant and yet so similar to Earth. The history of the Kais and the Drulls is one comprised of only a few Chromian centuries, but centuries with one war following the other, with destruction and upheaval determining the development of Chromian society.

Having whittled away a good part of my youth on Battle Isle 1 and having later discovered Incubation I spent ages on the demo alone.
Also, I only mentioned this very week that GOG needed more Incubation, and lo!
I love you guys :D
Orignal turn based strategy trilogy has obviously nice game mechanics, i can agree after checking of manual, especialy Battle Isle 3. Hex battle on low res maps seems very complex. Those are interesting games, but arent if you didnt play similar strategies in early 90s or didnt whole manual before starting any of these games, basicaly unplayable. Controls are truly unusual for modern gamers, trust me. Im skipping them for now.

Incubation (Battle Isle 4) has a legendary status, thats the reason i bought this pack in 2024 sales to try. Its mostly descripted as a X-COM inspired game with the Aliens movie feeling. Reality is not so cool.
After finishing of first 5 mission im disapointed. If this was released before X-COM i would say its a good and pretty original game, but controls are even worse than those in original X-COMs, ugly early 3D acceleratos graphic doesnt help.
Its simplistic graphic on simplistic maps doesnt look interesting at all. Missions itself are bad too. You just spawn your battle squad on typicaly small maps and trying to slowly kill all enemy aliens around one by one, cause groups of fast enemies are typicaly pretty stupid, but very fast which means deadly in this game.
Trully Incubation is not so complex game as any old X-COM. Characters have no standard inventory management as soldiers in X-COMs. Usualy you just spawn on a map with guns and mostly defending your group from instant attack, shooting, resting, healing and open taking things, thats all. After killing of last enemy on map you win, and go for another mission.
This could be nice game if you had graphic accelerator which wasnt so usual in those days, thats a reason i didnt played this in those days. But i cant recommend this today, sadly.
I expected much more from classic 1997 strategy game than this.

Another game that simply wont run! GOG is of no help, how can they get away with this!?
Hours spent going through forum posts and trying shady solutions (which shouldn’t be necessary, but I’d have forgiven if it ended up working), what a waste of money!
If you ignore this and still purchase you’ve only got yourself to blame.
